hey all.

anyone looking for work, cos we need staff at my job.

the position would be casual with full time hours basically. pays $18.95 a hour or something, just a few cents of $19.

the yard is in kewdale, here company website should help explain things.

http://www.prixcar.com.au/

we mega understaffed atm, and thought since car lovers here people wouldnt mind working with cars.

we deal with some nice car companies."Merc, BMW, Honda, Lexus, Jag, Lotus, Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge ,Audi and more.'

any intrests let us know. or just send in resume, they are constantly hiring people.

in december (may be prolonged more) we are moving to new yard closer to airport, which will be 5 times the size, 24 hour run time. etc etc. so need people now so know what their doing when flat out busy.

So thats $18.95 p /hr before tax?

Whats average wage there for a 38 hr week, "nett"? Do they pay pentaly rates/ OT? holiday pay?

Do they offer job enrichment? or they just want no brainer monkeys with no chance of advancement?

just wondering since it seems like there is a high turnover, which implies there is either no job enrichment or incentive pay.

cheers mate

the hours are 7am-3:06pm (dont ask about the 6) 5 days week. very rarely work saturdays. working full week gives you like 580-590 in hand ( i personally dont work full week, cos of other job i leave at 2pm not 3pm) and im getting 540 in hand a week. they pay overtime on weekends if work saturday first 3 hours 1.5 and anything after double time. but no overtime during week. that i know of. i geuss the job could lead somewhere, yard Supervisor, operations super, and so on. was offered yard super just recently but cos of other job could not do so, FullTime aval after proven self as such. (FT rates at $16 or so)

there has been high turnover laterly alot of longtime works have left. it can be nasty work, as today for example, if it rains u work in it and in summer its hot. there is 2 sections of work, BUILD and YARD, build involves install stereos and mudflaps all other stuff before dealer delivery. YARD involves collection of cars from stock and preparing for build. whihc can be any where from dewax, microdotting, G101 washes. but mainly pulling out and washing for build. and then presavation and general sorting of yard.

hopefully anwsers something. if not ask more.

That pretty much goes hand-in-hand with all high turnover jobs (ie call center, customer service) decent money for vanilla work. Great for young kids getting first jobs etc.

  • 2 weeks later...

in summer alot of hosing. in winter sometimes hosing :P

can have some fun with soap and water :S

pm replied.

for anyone else basic job description:

involves storing of cars [moving cars from truck drop off into stock area. and rearranging etc] preparing cars for build [ dewax, microdot, washing, g101 wash, and more] to mainting stored cars [presevation running of long term cars etc]

that basically the job. also there is build dept but im pretty sure they looking for more yard staff.

Forgot to mention:

Manual Drivers License is a must for job.ofcourse cos of driving :yucky:

nah the yard super is good, just like another worker really, you have to work though but can have fun, just no standing there on phone or anything. all works pretty laid back though, no WHIPPING :D unless work flat out and need to catch up. but nothin harsh.

    • Haha, i kow right? Could have bought so many cars for the same amount of money (or less) but driving Unicorn gives you at least +1mln to style 😅. Like wise man said "life's to short to drink cheap wine and drive boring cars" 😉
    • Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny
    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again
    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
