I think that we should have a thread dedicated to "Biggest Loser encounters".

You know those guys that talk about how quick their stock VL Commodore is because he's put a K&N panel filter in it and a straight through pipe for an exhaust, or that stupidly low (chopped bump stops) Falcon with the "Hectic Racing" sticker on the back window and full of people with their hats backwards that comes racing past you on the highway doing at least 130kmh...

Admit it we all come accross one or 2 of them every week and we should start sharing our funny or sad encounters with the community just for a laugh.

Well, I'll start the ball rolling:

I just had an encounter with a young moron who just randomly started talking to me while I was in Repco picking up some parts (yes I shop at Repco) about how he is going to put a BA XR6 turbo motor in his 1991 Fairmont auto and how he can do it himself because he's been on the internet and found instructions!

I then had to chuckle to myself when I thought about how he was going to afford this when he started to haggle with the boys at Repco over the cost of a FUEL FILTER! LOL :laughing-smiley-014:

Some people just need a good swift kick to the side of the head to knock some sense into them... Dont you agree??

AHAHAHAHAhhHAhAHHAhHAHAH

Edit: Actually i have one.

Theres a guy at work whos picked up a 290kw SS Commonwhore. He’s got a bunch of V8 mates. I told him bout my car. The next day he tells me his mate says "I build V8s, order parts from America, blah blah, theres no way a "SkyRine" could ever make 350rwkw.... :P

Its painful enough getting any bigamist up to speed, let alone convincing them something, let alone shattering this guys world with talk of 1500hp "SkyRines" and World 4wd class records.

Only after pressure did I send through a quick email with SAU's RB26 Thread, and mentions of using YouTube

Theres a lot i don't know about, but to be that gun hoe, being so many FACTORS below par in understanding of ones enemy (clearly anything with OHV is the enemy) is brain numbing

I also have a V8 nut at my work (although he has already expressed an interest in my car)

He has a VTish SS and told about the mods he has done and that they added up to a huge 180rwkw! I was astounded as you could imagine, then asked what he had done to help get all that power to the ground; his response was that it was a real handful, but he didn't need to go around corners quickly.

Now as if that wasn't funny/stupid enough, a few of us went out for a site visit and we piled into his car. Both front seats were at the hectic 45 degree angle even though he sat up straight most of the time. Now, for most of us this would be bad enough, but not this guy! As we pulled out of our carpark i noticed that he was not wearing his seat belt, so thinking he was distracted by our jokes, reminded him. He then gave me a look like i was asking him if the pope is into S&M and proudly told us that he hasn't worn one since he got his Ps.

I think i just won this game! :laughing-smiley-014:

I wouldnt ride in the car with a driver that didnt wear his seatbelt...

Id rather walk and wait for the day when he hits something and goes straight through the windscreen, then (if he survived) Id visit him in hospital with a little card that I made saying "I told you so!".

Does anyone know if the "stupidity gene" is naturally occuring or if it just evolves inside V8 bogans?

Driving out to Fyshwick on Saturday and all of a sudden when Im in the right hand lane overtaking on the Monaro Hwy I see a white VR Commondore with a crappy looking HSV body kit RIGHT up my ass, so as usual I slowed down...

Further down the road he gets the opportunity to overtake me and cut off the car in the left hand lane, so he speeds up and passes me, but he chooses to glare at me as he goes past (ciggarette in his mouth, arm out the window), so naturally this pissed me off, so I sped up and overtook him... (I know that Im a shit stirrer).

This played out about 3 times, he overtakes and glares at me or makes "hand signals" and then I overtake and just smile at him, until we get to the lights at the Mugga lane turn off... We lined up next to each other and I egged him on by revving my engine, the lights went green and he sped off as fast as he could (which wasnt real fast) but I just laughed and took off normally because I knew that we were heading for the new speed camera near Hume... He flew past the camera and realised at the last minute and slammed on the brakes and then drove like a Grandma for the rest of the hwy... I couldnt stop laughing!!! LOSER:happy:

I think its funny reading statements like "Then he did....... So i then proceeded to rev/speed/overtake".. Only to end your stories with an insult.. Not taking into account that your actions were as stupid as theirs were.. The looks on their faces when they display such behaviour only to be pulled over by an unmarked car is priceless..

Keep the stories coming thoe, its a good read..

Bullet32, your silver Ferrari often goes over 100km/h up the Monaro in the mornings as i casually look at you whilst driving to work, yet here you are telling stories of others selfish acts!!

QUOTE - so naturally this pissed me off, so I sped up and overtook him..."

Why dont you be an even bigger hero and tell me how fast you were going?

Yes Bullet32, you are officially my biggest loser encounter.

There's this bloke at work who is really into the whole FORD Vs HOLDEN bizzaaay. He's a Ford supporter. He has the FPV merchandise, the "FORD DRIVERS ONLY" street sign hanging above his computer, autographed framed picture of some car and so forth.

He noticed that I was into the car scene aswell by seeing all my car magazines in my intray and began going through all the pros and "pros" of his car. Being a newbie into the whole performance side of things I just laid low and humoured him and just nodded my head.

A workmate, passionate supra fan, overheard and came to my rescue and drilled him with facts and figures about skylines. He then said, ".. so, Karl's stock, 10 y/o skyline can pretty much out perform your fairmont in pretty much every department".

I responded, "..wait.. you have a fairmont? My mom drives a fairmont."

Case closed.

Can I just say as a current v8 driver - we are not all that bad. :worship: I'm well aware that my current car isn't as fast as some of the skylines around here - but its not a slug :domokun:

Can I just say as a current v8 driver - we are not all that bad. ;) I'm well aware that my current car isn't as fast as some of the skylines around here - but its not a slug :)

heheh by no means do I believe that all V8 drivers, owners, enthusiasts are ALL what it may appear here. My old man loves muscle cars and doesn't carry on like those listed here, my dad drives a camry.

But see you are the only one who realises this... everyone else who owns one thinks that they will smash a skyline in there stock berlina ;)

A stock Berlina can absolutely smash my GTS-T for about ummmm ??? how long does it take for the turbo to kick in again? Well it must be a few seconds at least LOL

    • You are selling this? I have never bought something from marketplace...i dont know if i trust that enough. And the price is little bit "too" good...

    • It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about. Reliability of everything in a 34 drops MASSIVELY above the 300kw mark. Keeping everything going great at beyond that value will cost ten times the $. Clutches become shit, gearboxes (and engines/bottom ends) become consumable, traction becomes crap. The good news is looking legalish/actually being legal is slighly under the 300kw mark. I would make the assumption you want to ditch the stock plenum too and want to go a front facing unit of some description due to the cross flow. Do the bends on a return flow hurt? Not really. A couple of bends do make a difference but not nearly as much in a forced induction situation. Add 1psi of boost to overcome it. Nobody has ever gone and done a track session monitoring IAT then done a different session on a different intercooler and monitored IAT to see the difference here. All of the benefits here are likely in the "My engine is a forged consumable that I drive once a year because it needs a rebuild every year which takes 9 months of the year to complete" territory. It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about with this car.
    • By "reverse flow", do you mean "return flow"? Being the IC having a return pipe back behind the bumper reo, or similar? If so... I am currently making ~250 rwkW on a Neo at ~17-18 psi. With a return flow. There's nothing to indicate that it is costing me a lot of power at this level, and I would be surprised if I could not push it harder. True, I have not measured pressure drop across it or IAT changes, but the car does not seem upset about it in any way. I won't be bothering to look into it unless it starts giving trouble or doesn't respond to boost increases when I next put it on the dyno. FWIW, it was tuned with the boost controller off, so achieving ~15-16 psi on the wastegate spring alone, and it is noticeably quicker with the boost controller on and yielding a couple of extra pounds. Hence why I think it is doing OK. So, no, I would not arbitrarily say that return flows are restrictive. Yes, they are certainly restrictive if you're aiming for higher power levels. But I also think that the happy place for a street car is <300 rwkW anyway, so I'm not going to be aiming for power levels that would require me to change the inlet pipework. My car looks very stock, even though everything is different. The turbo and inlet pipes all look stock and run in the stock locations, The airbox looks stock (apart from the inlet being opened up). The turbo looks stock, because it's in the stock location, is the stock housings and can't really be seen anyway. It makes enough power to be good to drive, but won't raise eyebrows if I ever f**k up enough for the cops to lift the bonnet.
    • There is a guy who said he can weld me piping without having to cut chassis, maybe I do that ? Or do I just go reverse flow but isn’t reverse flow very limited once again?
