 Am wondering if anyone can help me? I own a povo pack skyline(pintara) which has a miss under excelleration and stalls failing to start again. The mechanic said spark is ok also fuel and fuel pressure. Any clues on what this could be? Thanks..

forgot to mention motor is an CA20 also it smells like it's running rich

a bit old for coil packs Eug :D

is this a twin spark CA20?

my first car was one of these CA20 Pintara's, the thing just kept going, this was several years ago now. I did experience something similar to what your car is doing now, my problem was the no.1 injector died. 1 new injector and a clean of the others later and it was back running like clockwork.

haha ca20...

could be dodgy afm, paddel type! can get gunked up and wont move too freely (giving dodgy readings)

its common for pinny's to fill the airbox/intake piping/afm up with oil, pull it all off, check it and give it a clean, make sure the afm moves perfectly smooth (carby cleaner/elec contact cleaner).

you best be though is to go to - r31skylineclub.com and go to CA20e section.

maybe replace that motor with a CA18DET :)

most parts for the ca20 are easy to come by and cheap, so you can do a bit of trial and error.

cheak in the dizzy etc, could be worn, wind as much timing as you can into it, pinny's love timing and dont ping

also take out the water temp sensor and give it a clean with a scourer (not the dash one the other one - or both) if thats gunked it makes the car in cold start all the time, also check the 02 sensor if you have bad economy issues.

cheers

Thanks for th reply's ya'll all great help th mechanic my wife[i was at work] organized reckons it's a relay but i doubted this because it ran a bit rough and blowing black smoke upon start up and hard acceleration. yes it is th twin spark motor i actually was going to change th plugs to c if this helped. love th idea of th ca18t have heard about guys putting th head and turbo off the ca18 onto th 2 lt but sonds like alot of trouble to me when there are better options thanks again i'm a new member and crappy on th computer love th site

    • I'd be worried about having to parallel park a boat like that. Magnificent car though.
    • This car has run before on this z32 ecu can get the part number for you, I have tried with no AFM it didn’t change anything, I compression tested today 140-150 across all 6 cylinders, also set fuel pressure to 43psi. The only weird thing was cylinder 1 plug was black and fouled other 5 cylinders were just wet with fuel. Spun cas by hand and confirmed injectors are clicking

    • The ABS and/or TCS being missing/broken will not cause the engine to misbehave. It just casues CEL to come on and annoy you. The CEL is useless if it is always on, so you have to do the things you have to do to get rid of it, so it can be useful. Being a Stag ECU, then yes, it will not expect TCS to be present. But it will expect ABS to be present and working. You will need to either make the ABS CU talk to the ECU (don't ask me what that will take on an NA R34), and make sure the hardware is working....or, you just need to blank it out in Nistune. Do not persist with the stock ECU. You will just have problems. Gte it Nistuned. Start from there. DO YOU HAVE A BOOST SENSOR? The ECU's boost sensor that it. It is connected to the loom at the rear of the coil cover. Usually rides on the firewall on an R34, but is usually bolted down to a bracket along with all the other crap at the back of the coil cover when a Neo is dropped into another car. If you do not have it, the ECU will shit the bed. So, do you have one?
