dojobi
I have taken my RB25DET up to 950°C and that was flat out. I don't know how long it can take it at that temp though. It certainly didn't hurt it I don't think. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/1923-safe-egt-for-rb-engines/#findComment-36127 Share on other sites
macka
I dont think it is much of an issue 1000 deg wouldnt be a big deal urs would run cold with that big turbo and manifolds on it Adam Mine gets to 700 at the mo Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/1923-safe-egt-for-rb-engines/#findComment-36262 Share on other sites

macka
Bigger pipes, bigger turbo housing and wheels = less dense air = cooler zorst temps u on icq? 7315786 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/1923-safe-egt-for-rb-engines/#findComment-36353 Share on other sites
dojobi
I probably should mention that 950° is at full throttle for like a minute straight. That is hardly normal driving. It's between 650° and 800° for normal usage. As per usual, the 950° was done on a private road Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/1923-safe-egt-for-rb-engines/#findComment-36430 Share on other sites
adam 32
well i nailed it on my favourite road today and only got up to 600.... i think im just stressing!! so theres no real temp which if you go over then your ugnah do internal engine damage Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/1923-safe-egt-for-rb-engines/#findComment-36514 Share on other sites

DESTROY
Depends where you have your EGT probe mounted too. Sounds like you have it on your dump pipe. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/1923-safe-egt-for-rb-engines/#findComment-36937 Share on other sites
Guest beavis
the temps u all state are quite safe but over 1400,1500,1600 id be looking at some sort of support bracket for turbo/s as manifolds have a tendency to sag or fall off under high temps...
