bubba
I gave the inspector my permits that came with the car so he had no issues with the full exhaust, bov, fmic, pod, suspension etc. I would imagine without the permits I would have needed to put it all back to stock.. so they are good for something, I'm just thankful the car came with the permits and I don't have to go through the distress of getting them myself! Mr Eps
what im saying is, mods can be defective, and mods can be non defective, that's upto the inspector, what i'm saying is mod permits aren't a bulletproof vest aginst this kind of thing i have no mod permits whatsoever they cleared my car (twice) with 30 grade tint (lol) coilovers R34 smic pod filter "oversized" wheels 3" catback even an rb20de+T conversion and while i don't have mod permits, the work is all 100% perfect and the car is in tip-top shape, so the inspectors were fine my car in THAT instance anyway! bryno
If I'd had the time it would've been interesting to see if my car would have passed at Midland after failing twice at East Perth.. Was even told to rectify the 'excessive blow off noise' even though I had a stock BOV.. So I'd also recommend any where other than East Perth unless you have a completely stock/clean import. ossie_21
Got a booking at 12pm tomorrow at Midland. At the moment I'm really only going so the rego doesn't run out, I got the demand for car to be examined by the 13th last week, the same day I got my new rego sticker lol I'm just hoping I get an inspector who is actually decent & won't judge me on what I drive (the last one seemed very jealous of my car with my age), and I can actually get my questions answered properly! I might get a good extension, might get no extension, I don't know, but I'll be deciding where to go with it from there. Work has been insane & I've had no time to organise an engineer, but one I did manage to contact would do it but wouldn't be able to until the new year. If that's the case I'll probably have it until the sticker is up, possibly hand in the plates if I can't get it extended enough & re-register it with custom plates next year Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/194186-yellow-sticker/page/3/#findComment-3511116 Share on other sites

adam1982
Sorry to bring this old topic back up, but i have done a few search's and one question that i have not been able to find with regards to yellow stickers is with POD filters.. will the pits pass a car with a pod filter fitted? IE one without any shielding or anything around the pod? Cheers Adam Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/194186-yellow-sticker/page/3/#findComment-3615080 Share on other sites
showbizz
yes i had a permit for a pod filter (it just has to be secured with a bracket, so that it's supported and not wobbly all over the shop) Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/194186-yellow-sticker/page/3/#findComment-3615095 Share on other sites
ossie_21
As long as it's secured it will be fine, if it's not too loud. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/194186-yellow-sticker/page/3/#findComment-3615267 Share on other sites
adam1982
cool thanks for that. its a standard k&n filter and its secured quite well One other question, a while ago my abs failed - the brakes still work perfectly but the abs itself doesnt work and the abs light is on the dash. if i remove the globe so the light doesnt come on it shouldnt be a problem right?? ossie_21
Car was all engineered & given the ok, a bit of drama at the pits over the compressor surge but I won in the end, permits for pod, catch can, front mount & turbo. Says with my details other things like fuel pump & pressure regulator, boost gauge & exhaust aren't required to be added to the permit. With the exhaust part it says it's not required to be added because at the time of testing it was 86db @ 4000rpm, so I'll even have that to show if I get pulled over. Not that I'd get pulled over for the exhaust because those who know my car knows just how quiet it is (exhaust-wise...) Took it over with a few factory things to make it easier but what's gone back on there's nothing wrong with it like the rims, only the bov which ideally I'd like to change. drmafia
just sharing some expeeriance as i have been yellowed more than 12 times now, and just licenced my car after 6 months work. if u have any oil leaks or moving bits that shouldnt then dont bother. make sure the car is higher than the ground 100 mills they also mesure from the center of ur wheel to ur gards but they havnet done that to me. - horn is working, indicators and lights, wheels are all in nicely and all nuts are in and arnt shaking or moving bad. - washer nozels spray water. - car isnt spiting out smoke if it is then put a cat on for the week.. u wont pass and u dont want a 10 000 fine which they COULD do u for if they want too - ur pedals arnt metal ones. - air filetr and batry arnt moving too much or at all and are mounted. - bov is not on the car or is realy DEAD "no noise mate its the last thing u wana fail for" - no screamer pipe "plug it back into the exohst for the day" or make a flange that u can open n close - no NOS - no tvs in the front that arnt connected to hand break and wheels - boost the car down cuz if its spining too much when he puts his foot down while he drivin it he gana fail u. - dont have ur electronics around. "computer, ebc and all that" - no carbon fiber or fg bonets or boots. - no clear side indicators if ur car didnt come with one "sometimes they pic on that" but not anymore they use too. - if u got a wing thats metal take it off and if they can see the wing from the sides of it standing infront of the car then take it off too its too big it has to hide in. if ur turbo looks too big they might ask u for an engineer cert which is ok if u get a nice guy on a nice day.. make sure ur exohst isnt too loud too put a silencer on it for the day if you must he will rev it up too about 4000 usualy to see if its too loud so if u got a big turbo its not too bad good luck and be prepared to wait the hole day at the pits cuz lots of dealers go.. its about 90 bux now for 1st inspection and 48 for second.. use to be 40ish/29ish for 1st back in my 1st sticker days i just registerd mine yesterday after about 6 month unlicenced and a yellow stiker right in the midle of the screen sideways good luck. fr0st
Is the inspection for getting a car re-registered the same as a yellow? or more intensive? I'll need to take mine across after I fix the front end damage. Not looking forward to the experience...
