Damaged 1989 R32 GT-R Skyline

Damaged in an accident, large impact at passenger side front wheel and lesser impact at centre of boot/bumper.

All running gear has been repaired - the car rolls straight. Engine starts and runs fine.

Requires front guard replacement, boot pulling straight and some other minor bodywork to be roadworthy - have not officially assessed the cost.

Engine, gearbox, running gear and all interior is in very good or better condition, including seats, trims, gauges. Wheels are damaged, requires new.

Driver's side of the car is perfectly straight.

Could possibly be repaired, expect $5k-10k.

Excellent project or superb parts car. Someone buying a front cut would be over the moon with this.

Nismo body kit, gunmetal grey.

Photos available shortly (will update).

Located in Cannon Hill area, SE QLD.

Looking for interest at this stage will update with photos shortly.

photos asap, i will consider buying it.. pretty keen

Photos will be Saturday morning at the latest. I'll try to get them done after work one day this week if I have enough daylight, which is quite likely.

Interested.

Is it still registered?

No Insurance?

Are you still able to drive around?

No, not able to drive. Accident was more than 12 months ago, car has only been started once a month or so since then.

The panel damage is serious, make no mistake. To get roadworthy I would expect:

Whole rear quarter panel (passenger).

Front guard (passenger)

Set of wheels.

Fix leaky master cylinder (brake master).

Bunch of panel beating, including pulling the boot out where it's wedged in.

Painting, rego, a headlight, wing mirror, etc.

My mechanic replaced bent up running gear, it all bolted straight up - it all APPEARS straight. But has not been driven at speed nor properly assessed by a panel shop. Photos will clarify the damage.

The car (and me >_< ) were in a stupid accident (me being the stupid part). I clipped another car and spun through a fence, basically. Lost license, last straw, no more fast cars for me for some years now. Hence, just selling not fixing as I was planning (already done the suspension/CV/etc).

Didn't have insurance because of alcohol in system :P

Lessons learnt, bad night.

In addition:

R32 Vspec Brembo Calipers (think it's stock cylinders though).

Tomei 320km/h speedo (has 70k on it, will be a complete lie. Would say 100-120k).

New 3800lb Raceclutch clutch about 500kms before accident.

Couple of almost new Toyo T1Rs.

Titanium cat back exhaust (Fujitsubo) - but the muffler is crumpled >_< I don't know if it could be fixed or even if it's worth it.

I see. so insurance said it was a repairable etc. not write off?

Pretty risky buy if you said the running gear was bent and now straightened all up.

Ah well.. pictures will help.

Thanks

Well, these are two old photies with the colour etc I guess, and the engine bay. It's so sad seeing it all in one piece.

The engine bay is the same, just REALLY dusty. Those pics are about a month or so before the accident.

The passenger side in the pic is mostly unrecognisable bar the door which miraculously has only minor damage - repairable.

I will of course get current, more mangled pics as soon as I can.

No insurance didn't say repairable - as I said - it's completely unassessed - I mean by insurance or a panel beater. I'm not really expecting someone to buy it to repair it unless they are the in the panel-type business. For someone like that it would be doable because they would know what's involved but besides that as you say too risky. Someone who is planning on buying a front cut or a motor would likely want to buy this instead and get heaps more stuff for not much more money, I am hoping. Or, some panel beater might like a cheap GT-R

A few years ago it would go in a second to someone with a Silvia! :)

Yes, photos will help - but let me be clear it's not a quick fix, and not for the faint of heart. If it were, I would certainly not be selling it for as low as I am!

EDIT:

As far as the running gear, what had to be replaced was all on passenger front: CV, control arms, strut - basically all that corner, which impacted at the wheel. The rest of the running gear was all okay.

By unassessed, it has had no involvment with the insurance company or/and the police? As this would stop it from ever being driven on the roads again.

Thanks.

if you want to sell just parts bro let me know, got a cuz thats intersted in cluster, have you still got the centre consolethat goes around the 3 gauges all the way down to around the gearshifter, let me know and let me know how much,

cheers tony

Okay. Number one I don't really want to bleed my heart out with all my personal stuff on this forum, but since you've made the point:

I had an accident, one other car was inolved with minimal damage which I paid out in cash - I have signed paperwork saying it's all sorted (over 12 months ago now). The police did not visit the scene. The police do not and never did have the car's details. As far as anyone is concerned, it's just a car with lapsed rego. The car hit a fence, that also was fully paid very promptly and is finished with.

There will be nothing stopping it being registered as far as I can tell - except of course roadworthiness.

All that said - as I said earlier - I'm not particularly hoping or expecting someone will buy to repair. It's intended to be a parts car. If someone wants to go down that road, it's up to them. The car will check out with all the various authorities, it's all kosher.

Please for personal-info related enquiries send a PM or wait for photos and then come and have a chat about it, not doing more on this forum!

Guys as for parts requests (front bar, console) I'm not looking at them at this point. Feel free to post your wishes and you'll have preference should I be forced to sell bits and pieces.

I want the whole car to go and if I rip stuff off the car that will get hard to do.

I will give it a few weeks, and if it doesn't sell I'll get it towed to my mechanics and pay him to rip the expensive bits out, then sell them.

I really want to avoid that hassle and pain - I do think I could possibly make more money though doing that with some time and patience.

FYI the front bar is a bit cracked from a gutter, though pretty much survived the accident I think. I will sell if I can't sell the lot.

The console/dash/gauges are in excellent condition, all working. Even has original (but worn) gearshift knob, steering wheel, pedal rubbers - even mats!

Seats are in great condition with one (very) little smoke burn which happened before I got it.

If I can get home early enough today I'll get the pics done.

    • Was going to say the car pulls up nicely everywhere, especially going into that last long right hander before the main straight. Looks like a lot of fun.
    • Hey Dave, welcome aboard! Good to see another soon-to-be Stagea owner here. The wagons are awesome — plenty of space, still got that Skyline DNA, and loads of potential if you’re into mods. Definitely post up pics when you get it, everyone here loves seeing new builds. What model/year are you looking at?
    • See if you can thermal epoxy a heatsink or two onto it?
    • The other problem was one of those "oh shit we are going to die moments". Basically the high spec Q50s have a full electric steering rack, and the povo ones had a regular hydraulic rack with an electric pump.  So couple of laps into session 5 as I came into turn 2 (big run off now, happily), the dash turned into a christmas tree and the steering became super heavy and I went well off. I assumed it was a tyre failure so limped to the pits, but everything was OK. But....the master warning light was still on so I checked the DTCs and saw – C13E6 “Heat Protection”. Yes, that bloody steering rack computer sitting where the oil cooler should be has its own sensors and error logic, and decided I was using the steering wheel too much. I really appreciated the helpful information in the manual (my bold) POSSIBLE CAUSE • Continuing the overloading steering (Sports driving in the circuit etc,) “DATA MONITOR” >> “C/M TEMPERATURE”. The rise of steering force motor internal temperature caused the protection function to operate. This is not a system malfunction. INSPECTION END So, basically the electric motor in the steering rack got to 150c, and it decided to shut down without warning for my safety. Didn't feel safe. Short term I'll see if I can duct some air to that motor (the engine bay is sealed pretty tight). Long term, depending on how often this happens, I'll look into swapping the povo spec electric/hydraulic rack in. While the rack should be fine the power supply to the pump will be a pain and might be best to deal with it when I add a PDM.
    • And finally, 2 problems I really need to sort.  Firstly as Matt said the auto trans is not happy as it gets hot - I couldn't log the temps but the gauge showed 90o. On the first day I took it out back in Feb, because the coolant was getting hot I never got to any auto trans issues; but on this day by late session 3 and then really clearly in 4 and 5 as it got hotter it just would not shift up. You can hear the issue really clearly at 12:55 and 16:20 on the vid. So the good news is, literally this week Ecutek finally released tuning for the jatco 7 speed. I'll have a chat to Racebox and see what they can do electrically to keep it cooler and to get the gears, if anything. That will likely take some R&D and can only really happen on track as it never gets even warm with road use. I've also picked up some eye wateringly expensive Redline D6 ATF to try, it had the highest viscosity I could find at 100o so we will see if that helps (just waiting for some oil pan gaskets so I can change it properly). If neither of those work I need to remove the coolant/trans interwarmer and the radiator cooler and go to an external cooler....somewhere.....(goodbye washer reservoir?), and if that fails give up on this mad idea and wait for Nissan to release the manual 400R
