Hey guys,

Here is a photo of my keys:

gallery_43966_2333_53895.jpg

The top button unlocks the doors and turns off the immoboliser, but the bottom does nothing. I was wondering, is it possible to make this button do something? I was thinking maybe turn neons on/off, turn engine on/off, headlights, maybe even open the boot or bonnet. Is this possible? Or does it have to live the rest of its life lonely

Thanks,

Rhys

How mechanical am I? Well I'm a mechanics apprentice, so I'd say yeh, sor sure. And now that I've just got my licence, I'm willing to drive any where! I really want this to work, mainly because it'd be cool to show off to my mates. How easy is this to do? A write-up or any information would be appreciated.

ok so you know enough to be dangerous :D

go to a wrecker grab an electric release from a late 90s magna - cable and all.

wire a relay off the CH2 output on the alarm (alarm is -ve trigger.) to fire the solenoid

disconnect the manual release and put the electric one in place

done.

wow, thought it would be more complicated than that! A few questions, where would my alarm be hidden? and does the relay come with everything from the Magna, or do I have to buy that seperate? I'll post up some pictures/videos/how tos when I get this done.

std 5 pin relay- get them anywhere. since you are in a wrecker grab one from a VK-VS commodore.

alarm is probably under the drivers dash. black box that has dynamco on it.

I had a look around at 3 wreckers today, would have been 5 but they were closed :-(, but couldn't find any. I might have to buy a whole Magna boot just to get it. I'm pretty annoyed that I couldn't find any today, but I'll have a look during the week.

its on the later ones. look in the glovebox for a boot button. from there rip the passenger rear panels out in the boot (where the antenna is.) and grab the actuator and cable attached to it. grab all the snaps as well.

  • 3 weeks later...

Talked to the guy at the Misubishi Wreckers and he told me the Commodore one would be better. It works with a cable, so I dont have to remove the manual boot release for this to work. I have the release solenoid, do I need anything else to install it? I'll be doing it next week end, so wish me luck!! Here is what I bought, from a VZ Commodore:

I'm mounted the solenoid and it will work fine. Now I have hit another snag. I can't find my immoboliser anywhere!! I have pulled my dash apart and looked everywhere around the drivers side and middle of the dash. The passengers side is just aircon stuff and the glove box. Where else can I look? I looked under the bonnet as well, but not surprisingly I didnt find anything. Any help on this would be really appreciated. Once I have found it, it should be a down hill run from there. This mod is a lot easier than I thought!

I cant arm/disarm the immoboliser without the doors locking/unlocking. I waited for it to time out, but still the only sound I could hear was the drivers side door. And it isnt in there, obviously, the trim has been taken off a number of times. Any other ideas? The mechanic at work suggested behind the kick panel, I'll try that tomorrow and see how I go.

    • The 296mm rotors are the R33 turbo brakes. The 310mm rotors are the R34 turbo brakes. The calipers are nearly the same, but not. They're the same caliper but the R34 caliper has longer legs so that it sits out far enough to go over the rotor. The pads are the same for both. When you say, "I bough tsome EBC"....did you just mean pads? Or rotors? 310mm rotors fit under 17" wheels. There may be some wheels without enough clearance though. I can't fit my fingers between the barrel of my wheel and the "corners" of my R34 calipers, but there is plenty of room behind the spokes. This is on Enkei RPF1. You can fit 324mm rotors inside a 17" wheel, but I'd be willing to bet that it would be close to impossible with the Nissan/Sumitomo caliper (using an adapter, of course), because the Sumitomo caliper is fatter than the Brembo caliper that is supposed to go on the 324mm rotors.
    • Hi. Can someone tell me what brakes(and mainly WHERE) can i buy brakes on R34 GTT? I bought some EBC which SHOULD go on my car(i have GT but it has GTT brakes) but it does not fit, Brakes are "too" small(296mm) Are 310mm be good or? I have 17 inch wheel so no "big boys" but for me driving i just need one that fits and i can get here in EU/Czech.
    • Since winter isn't that harsh anymore in Poland, i will definetely drive it 365 days a year 😉. But if the snow hits i will try it for sure and let U know. Only swap i am planning to do is of course R34 GTR front 😍.
    • Hey. Very valuable information about pitwork, I will pay attention when buying any consumable parts 🙏 As for the carpets - I got a handful of information from nengun, from which it appears that indeed the carpets for the driver's side are OEM. They are not able to show me any pictures due to the long chain of different sales entities but after I place the order, as soon as the goods arrive at the nengun warehouse from which they will send the shipment to me they can send me photos and if my purchase differs from OEM I can immediately return it / cancel the purchase. I think I will give it a try 😉. Of course i'll let you know what's what as soon as i get them P.s. I know the topic is not relevant to the thread, but both nengun and amayama have these SICK 😍 trunk room lamps available. Do you know anyone who ordered them? I need to have one in my car
