R338OY
I've got a set of coilovers and the ride is really stiff with the damper setting on the softest. The front isn't overly stiff (the weight of the motor helps a little) but the rear skips over bumps. Gets annoying on crappy roads. The rears are 17x9 inch with 235/45 rubber on. I checked this forum and saw this rim is ideal with 255 wide rubber. Will wider tyres give more flex and soften the ride up? Or is a 50-55 profile necessary? n15m0
Your spring rates are probably the main cause of the stiff ride...What make are the coilovers? You do not change tyre profile to soften your ride...it will only throw your overall diameter and speedo out...unless you plan on going back to 16s or 15s with a 50 or 55 profile. Thanks for the speedo warning They're Nismo, and i'm 95% sure are S-tune. So keep 45 profile OK. If i went up to 18's i'd go 40 profile yeah? Will getting a wider tyre help the ride at all, or just grip? As they sit, the 235's are too small and aren't flush with the rim. Can i change spring rates and to avoid changing coilovers? My mate reckons these are drift spec coils (came on the car when imported) Also: when i push on the car (i.e. on the boot) there is sh!t all flex from the suspension and the tyre. Sydneykid
This thread shows you how to measure your springs so that I can work out the spring rates for you http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Sp...Are-t79157.html Once we know what the spring rates are then we can make soem suggestions. The next thing for you to check is how low is the ride height. Centre of wheel to guard it should be no lower than 350 mm front and 340 mm rear. Ride comfort and handling suffer if it is any lower than that.
