Hey guys,

just looking for some information in regards to getting a nsw skyline rego'd here in brisbane..

from what i have read i will only need the nsw rego form, and then get a rwc up here,

is this correct?

i know the answer is probably really simple, but i dont want to go and pick up the car and then get stuck trying to rego it up here,

can anyone help me out?

I was told that QT had to inspect it them selves in one of their inspection bays when I trie dto change my NSW plated car to QLD.

so I just sold it unregistered and the next guy did it.

others on here have just said that you have to get a RWC for it and go to QT with the cert and rego papers from NSW and the plates to hand in.

You just get a roadworthy certificate.

Then you go to Queensland Transport, they ask you to give them the old plates to send back, and you get new plates. The previous owner gets the remainder of their rego refunded to them, and you pay for new rego.

you got ripped off $3, cause it should be $57. :P

i think... will find out soon enough. gotta do a rwc next week.

$57 is correct,... I apologise for my laziness, thought I'd just round it up, my mistake, it's better to give accurate information after all, so for that I'm guilty.

It's so funny coming from NSW, where our cars are inspected each and every year, and after having my car inspected 2 months ago in NSW, I now had to make sure it's roadworthy for QLD,.... but then again no more yearly inspections in QLD, which is much more hassle-free.

I can't quite remember how we did it, but we bought our old 32 off mansoor in NSW, while we were there we went to the RTA and transfered the rego into our names, he had to sign a form and andy had to sign a form. Then when we got it back here we just transfered it to a qld rego, no cert needed. That was 2 years ago and I know rwc's are a requirement now, although i'm not sure if they are if the car is already in your name (as in, been transfered from the old owner to you in NSW). We got lucky, the bird on the counter let us keep the plates, they were personalised so they're stuck in the garage LOL

Anyway see how you go, good luck :(

    • haha don't worry I'm sue you've got more fun ahead buying a 30 year old turbo car....but at least you are in the right place to ask
    • some days eh? The keyless entry and interior light on/off with the key will be controlled by the Body Control Module, but I'm not certain where that is or what it looks like (you might get lucky with a search to get a part#, which could be printed on it). I'd start at the A pillar/ Under dash/kick panel on the driver's side
    • It might be hit and miss, but Nissan Genuine Parts and Pitworks are not the same thing, although both are available from Nissan Dealers with Nissan Part Numbers. Nissan Genuine Parts are the OEM stuff, Pitworks are their attempt to get people back from generic parts makers
    • I did end up getting it sorted, as GTSBoy said, there was a corroded connection and wire that needed to be replaced. I ended up taking out the light assembly, giving everything a good clean and re-soldered the old joints, and it came out good.
    • Wow, thanks for your help guys 🙏. I really appreciate it. Thanks @Rezz, if i fail finding any new or used, full or partial set of original Stage carpets i will come back to you for sure 😉 Explenation is right there, i just missed it 🤦‍♂️. Thanks for pointing out. @soviet_merlin in the meantime, I received a reply from nengun, and i quote: "Thanks for your message and interest in Nengun. KG4900 is for the full set of floor mats, while KG4911 is only the Driver's Floor Mat. FR, RH means Front Right Hand Side. All the Full Set options are now discontinued. However, the Driver's Floor Mat options are still available according to the latest information available to us. We do not know what the differences would be, but if you only want the one mat, we can certainly see what we can find out for you". Interesting. It seems they still have some "new old stock" that Duncan mentioned 🤔. I wonder if they can provide any photos......And i also just realized that amayama have G4900 sets. I'm tempted too.
