QRDC March 8th & 9th

Cancelled

Sorry, we have had to cancel the first round of the QRDC because so many of our regulars are going to Bathurst for Easter on the following weekend and I certainly cannot hold hard feelings for anyone for doing that. Our sincere best wishes for a great weekend to all of you that are making the trek down there - if there is one place that does not need pushing its gotta be Mt Panorama.

The second round of the QRDC is well and truly subscribed all ready so we look forward to seeing you at QR over the weekend of May 2-4th if not at the TopGear on April 20th.

For the 35 of you that had pre-entered we are happy to offer you free general practice on Saturday, March 8 to make up for the messing about and hopefully some consolation for not going to Bathurst. In addition, you have a guaranteed entry for our first TopGear race meeting to be held at Lakeside which may well be April 20 if all goes well and you have managed to get your car's noise levels low enough!

Thank you for your support and sorry about the disappointment but as you can see we are doing our best to make it up to you.

Cheers, jt

What the hell is a B Sprint mate?

I won't be driving unfortunately, unless someone wants to loan me a car? Russ, Im looking in your direction mate lol

180SX arrives at wharf only a week prior at best so no chance of getting it off dock and prepping it in time.

Are people happy running the National circuit? All about power and brakes, great for Porkers.

Well, anything is better then nothing wouldnt you say?

Lakeside would be better then Qld Raceway but we dont have that luxury yet.

Anyway, yes to a certain extent QR National rewards HP and Brakes, but at the end of the day the car still needs to last the entire 15 laps. Not hard for a V8 Supercar but for the average car screwed together in the titan she's a challenge.

Example- TopGear the other weekend, sedan category had 39 entries but by the end of the day which was only 5 lap dashes on the various circuits only 14 saw the chequered flag of the last race... So HP and brakes are cool, but reliability can win too :D

lol

i was out spectating the top gear weekend. was good viewing. a few casualties :|

will come out and watch the drivers championships too, thanks for the info

John, a "B Sprint" is a 4 round super sprint series at Morgan Park. There is an "A" & "B" series, which differ only by dates. I choose a blast at the eungulating(spelling?) Morgan Park over a QR power fest any day.

And reliability is a must in any series, big power can often lead to less reliable cars. Good point .

Lakeside will be interesting for the powerful cars, last time I was there 220whp was enough to scare the serious shit out of me. The National circuit comment was about that layout particularly, its a lot harder on brakes than say the Clubman, but I was wondering more about the enjoyment factor. Or are you blokes too serious for that

I don't suppose you were there early enough to see the RX7 in the sedans category qualifying? Ran a 1min18.0 which I thought was real good but appears it didnt survive qualifying. Was gone before I got out there for the first race so it died during qualifying I guess?

Ahha, now I see. Ive only been on Morgan once but it's such a huge pita to get out there :(

Undulating? I'm guessing... More fun layout there for sure, but I wish it was closer

Too serious for fun? Ya jokin' mate :)

I have a speed addiction, and Im not talking about the tablet kind...

I never even bothered taking the basic readings you would if you were keen on shaving that extra tenth from your times. Friends use their pyrometer once to check tyres temps on the car but I lost the sheet anyway lol. I went for fun from the speed and the challenge of going fast around corners without crashing.

Anyway, this first round there's no pink Mk2 or white R33 Skyline turning up so it'll be up to others to show some support.

  • 2 weeks later...

damn that sucks, was looking forward to having a look.

will they do general practise or saturday sprints??

I might go out there if thats the case and anyone can go?

    • ok so if i wanted to go 18's i would go for 8's  in front 30+ or 32+ off set at front and the back 9 would be ok? what offset should i aim for.. then can i do some  hunting for wheel rim choices..    If i get this - will this fit all around: Size: 18 x 8.5 +37 - n what tyres size tyre should i get for front n back?
    • Absolute f*cking nightmare. I had to take breaks constantly, and I was always pissed off when I got home. The line split in Italy on day 2 (we drove from the Netherlands), lol. Driving any narrow European town was... well, sh*t.   Appreciate it man. Here, I'll just drop a favourite from the load I took on Saturday.   I'll update here when things happen with the car, the thing is, with stock power and almost everything chassis-wise taken care of, there really are no problems. 268,000kms now and counting.
    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
    • Hey mate,  I have a set, one is slightly damaged but wont be noticable once installed.  Shoot me a message if your still after them
    • I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up
