i would be going the HKS 2530. You will hit boost early and have it going through the rev range.

i would only suggest the GT-RS on a mildly to built engine.

NightCrawler on here has the 2530 on a RB25 and he likes it.

Ive heard a few people who have had the 2530 say they weren't happy with it at all, Was why I went for a Trust TD06.

With a 2530 you're limited to 230-240 kw's at the most, if you get greedy and want more, you'll have to go bigger, like the GTRS/SS...

Decide how much power you want, how much lag is acceptable to you, your budget, and what you intend to do with the car, and go from there.

Drift/Hills/Good response/230 kw's at the wheels max = 2530

Straight line duties/higher speed drifting/dyno bitch/more lag but potentially more power = GTRS

yep I love my HKS 2530 - makes an easy 230rwkw with standard injectors, auto trans, and an Apexi SAFCII - would make much more with a PowerFC and manual trans. Add cams and would make even more. Response is awesome - starts building boost around 2,000rpm and builds very nicely from there .... worst thing in any street car is to have lag, lag, lag, then whack the power comes on hard and strong IMHO.

I have a 2530 on my car. Some people say they have same lag or less than a 25 stock turbo, but that is not true.

I love this turbo on my 20, however, is not as responsive as I would have liked (drifter).......I suppose you cant get enough response on a drifter :D,...but having said that, its very good for the street imo.

Mine puts out 230kw, I haven't tried the GT-RS, but I can tell you you wont be disappointed with the 2530 :P

If you are looking for about 220-240kw then look no further.

Cheers

What setup do you have richo? Fuel pump/injectors/afm/ecu/FMIC/Gearbox etc. What rev limit do yoy have too?

I spoke to ryan at kansai, who said that himself and huddy were not happy with the 2530's at all.

Both cars were using stock cams and plenums as well.

Im hoping the TD06 I bought will be on full boost by 4000 - 4200, and with a 8500rpm limit, still a very usable powerband, provided I can keep it on boost LOL

Bosch FP

GTR injectors

TSL ECU

Stock:

AFM

Gearbox

Cams

Plenum

HKS Cast Low mount manifold

HKS External Wastegate

I hit full boost at around 4000 - 4100 all the way to the limiter @ 8500rpm :D

If you want something more responsive in an RB20 you need to go smaller, a 2510 would be perfect but then again it wont give you 230kw, so it depends on the individual really.

Cheers

Ric

so does anyone know when fullboost hits on each of these turbos?

and wat would a gtrs be able to make...

coz if full boost is a matter of 500rpm but the gtrs make shit load more power then that would be the way to go?

cheers

The GT-RS wont make a shitload more power, maybe another 20rwkw. It uses the same turbine as the 2530, which is what's holding it back.

GT-RS is pretty much a 400hp compressor and 300hp turbine. Not much point in getting more air in if you can't get more out is there? If you don't track your car, I see little to no point in going the bigger turbo.

I still believe the GCG highflow is great turbo for the RB20. I made 220rwkw on 1.4bar on the old clapped out RB20 that popped a couple of weeks later. I made 1.4 bar by about 3700rpm which is freakin awesome response for an RB20. I believe if the motor wasn't about to blow, it would've made more power.

Oi Showza! where have you been dude?

Did you get your car sorted? Cant wait to see the finish product :)

^^^ full boost at 4,000rpm that the guys say above sucks ass for the street. My 2530 is making full boost by around 3,000rpm - you really don't want to have to rev the crap out of your car every day on the street to have a bit of fun. The low down torque on my RB25 absolutely kicks ass from about 2,000rpm - awesome from the street!

^^^^ good for you mate!.....We are happy for you.

The question here was aimed at RB20 not RB25.

We all know how responsive a 25 could be with a 2530. . I dont think the question was "what engine should I run my 2530 with?"

Cheers

It would deffinately be on fullboost later than the 2530 or GT-RS but from all accounts the party should be well underway by late 3000rpm early 4000rpm

Either way if your interested let me know or just check out the link in my sig.

2835 ProS (same CHRA Garrett GT3071R) has the same compressor as the GT-RS, only difference is the turbine is slightly bigger, runs a cropped 56.5mm GT30 turbine compared to the 53.8mm GT28 turbine. It will be laggier, but should be good for a heap more power. Simon Michelmore is running a Garrett GT3071R on his RB25 and making 270rwkw...

Once again, I wouldn't be going the bigger out of those turbos unless you plan on taking the car to the track.

Ric: Just dropped all the engine bits down to the machinist, getting it all machined up now, so car should be driving in 2-3 weeks time I reckon.

    • Don't even try to run it on the stock ECU if you're going to have the boost controller bring boost above ~10 psi. I've already told you that. If you use the Nistune ECU, you will need to CAREFULLY read the available documentation for Neo tuning, and read some threads on the Nistune forums, to discover the various things you have to do to prevent the ECU from going bananas when the boost is too high. The is a table associated with th boost sensor that must be modified to prevent it from shitting the bed. This is just one of the things that you will need to do to the tune in Nistune, because the Neo turbo ECU will be expecting to see a number of things (such as the TCS) that are not there, and you have to block the DTCs on those. It is totally not surprising to me that you are having the problems that you are, but the solutions to these problems have been known for >15 years. So just get it done.
    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
