hey shaun, know you probly havnt had a chance but will ask anyway, any luck with those tie down straps you mentioned about at the dyno day?

Thanks for the tip simon, turn 2 has been a killer for me since i started drifting, very rarely nail it. Lets hope saturday is a different story.

I have asked and i will get them for you but it just wont be for this saturday!!!!

^^ You were there? Didnt see u! But then.. i was pretty out of it with the heat. U mustve seen us talking to her earlier in the day?

She use to work with luke, ive never met her before, but was talking with her a few times throughout the day, pretty nice cop, her and her partner she was with.

Yeh i was there with Ryan and Bek, left kinda while the presentations were happening!!

Nah i found out from her that she knew you guys, just bieng the nice guy i am, just talking to her about the day, and she said her friend was drifting the maroon skyline, and it clicked it was you and Luke!!

haha mini defect at lala, thats the first tym i have heard bout this lol

but seriously ppl are goin out there to watch n cops have to ruin the day dont they for sum

but congrats luke on linking turn 1 and 2, on ur third effort, looked good

Im glad the cops are there.. doing their job. Keeping alcohol out the pits etc.. saw them evict 2 young guys about 2ish who were already blind drunk. They warned them, and they wouldnt co-operate by giving their names so they got evicted.

They werent out there to 'ruin anyones day'.

Besides that, well done to all that competed.

Yeah I saw that too, there were a few drunk tools throwing beer bottles and such in the stands.

Didn't realised my brothers old housemate John Mc Cracken was a drifter until I saw his RX-7 on the track, not bad for old-school rotor power :)

I thought the best skids of the day were coming from the 31's and the old Rolla's :(

i am also glad the cops were there, dont need the place turning into a speedway city burnout comp with bogans and drunks everywhere. They did their job, defected 2 cars the whole day which is f*k all considering what they could have done, and kept people inline. Very hapy to see their presence in the pits too, keep alcohol and other random shit that shouldnt be going on in the pits out.

Have a read on the g1 threads on ns and you will see the cop with the moustache is now actually a registered member on there, he loves the sport and is actually wanting to help the drift community out, which is a first from a SAPOL member i reckon.

Thanks for the kind words from all though, new rims and tyres were hard to come to grips with lol as i just had too much rear grip now, hopefully counteract that with some more power for round 2 and should be all sweet :)

Oh and deluxe, my cop friend is a red head :nyaanyaa: unless she changed hair colour but i dont think i was out of it that much to miss that.

What? Not such thing as too much grip Luke! :( lol Was looking on NS for the results and couldnt see your name anywhere, it seemed quite strange, I even thought you didnt compete in the end.

Congrats to all that competed and braved the heat...Did anyone killed their engine on that heat?

Cheers

Is it eddie modra in the green sprinter? His new engine died before he even got to qualify!

think a few cars had gearbox issues, few overheating problems here and there also, but yeah only 1 dead engine

    • yeah first and reverse is where you will find clutch release issues (whether hydraulic or mechanical) because the difference in revs required is the highest there; particularly changing down from 2nd to 1st when still moving. To be clearer though, it is possible that the clutch release bearing is the wrong height. This is less likely than a hydraulic issue but it is not unheard of when you are mixing and matching
    • Quite right, if you make it to that pension you deserve every cent
    • Hi all, Restoring r33 series 1 rb25det. All the heater hoses were on their way out, have replaced them and put it all back together. After testing I noticed a small leak from behind the head on the actual metal water line to the turbo when cars warm. I tried running a longer hose over it but it kept leaking...   I am about to take the (stock) manifold off again😔 to change the water line does any one have any lines they recommend? I was looking at Aeroflow Turbo Oil & Water Line Set but not sure what everyone else recommends. Car is completely stock but want to upgrade turbo eventually. it looks like ill have to disconnect a lot just to replace these lines so if there's anything else recommended to do please let me know. Thank you in advance!
    • From memory, on the R33 GTSt at least, while everyone says "It's not adjustable", I found when I changed clutches in mine, it just needed a small adjustment on the rod length. But be very wary here, as you could end up trying to push the pushrod in the master too far, or blowing out the slave.   Most likely though, if the master/slave isn't bypassing internally or leaking out, then the throw out is the wrong height compared to the fingers on the clutch, so when it moves to disengage the clutch, it isn't 100% disengaged. You can check part of this out too by jacking the car up, having the engine running, put your foot on the clutch and try to engage 1st gear. If it goes in pretty easy (Compared to the ground) and/or the wheels start turning a fair bit and it takes a bit too much brake pedal to bring them back to a stop, this is likely the issue.  I'm not sure if you can adjust the height of the forks etc in these though, it's been that long since I've touched any RB gearbox.
    • That's all good, I thought I was missing some interesting feature! Maybe @PranK can double check if that is something that is meant to be operating or not.
