AWD? i don't remember seeing a front diff!

i think there was a model of G35 sedan (maybe called the G35x?) that was AWD but that doesn't apply to us from what i know

but for us on the V35 that's a snow/hold button, same as with R32/33/34 automatic cars

when pressed, it:

- takes off in second gear from standstill

- cuts a lot of power to the rear wheels to prevent wheelspin

- doesn't allow the car to drop down gears suddenly when accelerator is ressed (thus avoiding wheelspin when you drop down gears and suddenly take off)

yes, rare AWD on the sedan, may have some on USDM but not many in JDM or maybe they don't release for JDM

AWD was available on the JDM 250GT-4 only - ie only the 2.5L variant and not that common. USDM G35x was the 3.5L engine with AWD, but an equivalent RHD JDM variant was not produced.

But as Waz says the snow button is not related to AWD (for the RWD variants anyway)...

hey has anyone actually driven the v35 on snow with snow mode on?

thinking of heading to the snow in a few weeks and just wondering.

Cheers

Well it wont be any different on normal roads- just cuts the power to zilch.

If your heading to Perisher then you will need chains if your going up into the national park. Otherwise take the ski tube and you wont need to carry chains. Take the "Alpine Way" turn off. No way I would get chains on my 19's anyway.

P.S its dumping like mad down there! I got me a season pass!

Check out the USA forums (g35driver.com etc) - lots of V35 (known as Infiniti G35 not Skyline) owners over there who live in areas where it snows...

However I have a feeling they don't get the snow button - weird!

Ooohh Alpine Way, I want to know how the car handles on that road. I've only ever taken rentals there. Someone organise a cruise!

PS. if you do go - DON'T FRICKING EVER TAKE OFF THE TRACTION CONTROL OR YOU WILL PAY FOR IT. This is more important than the snow button.

    • Went to a drift practice day at a local circuit (held on the reserve parking area behind the grandstand) for the first time in about 15 years. Some kei cars were drifting as well, a not so surprising Suzuki Carry truck, and two 1st gen Daihatsu Copens that were converted to rear wheel drive(!) using Daihatsu Boon X4 transfer case, prop shaft and rear diff, obviously omitting the front driveshafts. They looked really fun to slide. I heard that they cost "about half" as much as a Nissan Silvia etc to run.  On the track 'Tech M' a local BMW tuning garage had a customer track day. Mainly recent models but there was one E36 which looked ancient among all the current models. It was cool watching the drifting and then turning around and seeing random people thrashing their M3/4s  central-circuit-drift-practice-2025-05-18-long-yt.mp4
    • I prefer it with those wheels (sacrilege?) 😋 Here's a photo of a fully original one for reference. The price is $350K....
    • I would like to keep it around 15k but if I need more to make it reliable and not have to worry about the car breaking I can go more. It's my project car so I'm just trying g to figure out what needs to be in it i know basic things like turbo cams injectors I'm just unsure of the size and the specifics so I'm spending alot of time on Google and its mostly rb25 and rb26 not alot on neo
    • This. They would need some tricky maneouvering to keep the income out of the country (the US). Which isn't helpful if that's where you want the income to end up.
