Currently looking to upgrade the turbo on the R33, as I already have the SAFC I was wondering if only tuning fuel and not timing would be a major issue with the new turbo? The far off goal is really only 250rwkw eventially with a PFC, but for know the budget will only allow the turbo, I already have a pump, FMIC etc... so I'm aiming for maybe 230rwkw for now, could it be done with the stock AFM and injectors or otherwise I could stretch the budget and get the Z32 AFM and I was thinking S15 injectors would be a cheaper option. So yeah opinions are welcomed but feedback from people who have been there and done that would be appreciated too, thanks.

Unfortunately as you are probably aware, the fuel/ignition relationship doesn't work very well, with a fuel bender and is defiantely the limiting factor in the power made. I wouldnt push the setup too hard, and consider the SAFC a bandaid which really needs to be fixed to get the most out of the supporting mods. Maybe have a look at the Greddy emanage Ultimate as another option, as its not as $$$$ as PFC's are getting

SAFC + SITC + Z32afm + Nismo FPR isnt too bad an option, as far as bandaid measures go

200rwkw from an auto is definately doable, so add a few rwkw more on for a manual

Ive got Deatschwerks 550cc injectors waiting to go in, but will be doing the remap option (in lieu of aftermarket ecu) when it comes time to put in the injectors, boost her up a little more, and tune (will keep the piggybacks for extra tuneability, I reckon).

I got 230rwkw out of my rb20 with an safc2, runs fine with good tuned afrs (its posted rb20 performace thread), I still get 500kms to a tank. Although im getting a remap and z32 though as the afm maxes out slightly on cold days. I think throwing some good timing in will sort out the small compresssor surge i get when slowly ramping up boost under load and the other advantages of more power quicker spool up etc..I have gtr injectors also.

so if i was to run a safc2+sitc would getting an r33 ecu remap aswell be advantageous?

they are a fair bit pricey though arent they? i would guess the costs of a remap would out weigh the benefits.

i ask because i am about to install safc2+sitc and run with standard turbo+injectors+afm and aim for around 200rwkw

then upgrade turbo and injectors for 250ish rwkw at this point ill probably need better management, perhaps an ecu remap.

i already have other supporting mods etc

    • Hi, I have a r32 gtr transmission. Does any of you guys have an idea how much power it will hold with the billet center plate and stock gearset? At what power level and use did yours brake with or without billet plate? Thanks, Oystein Lovik
    • Saw this replica police car based on a Mitsubishi Starion XX parked next to a 'police box' (it's literally a box) in Hirohata, Himeji City in Hyogo prefecture the other day. It's owned by Morii-san who is a local Mitsubishi Starion enthusiast. According to a local radio station blog post, he always wanted to make a police car himself based on ones he saw in his favourite Manga comics.  As it's illegal to modify a car to look like a police car and drive on the road, Morii-san tried many times to get permission from Aboshi police station headquarters nearby. They refused initially by after they got tired of that they granted him permission. However, the car can only be displayed on private property and obviously can't be registered as long as the police livery is present. The car was completed at a cost of 1.5 million yen (US$ 10,000) in addition to the car cost. A location was chosen outside Hirohata Police box where the car can easily been seen from the street. Morii-san has two other Starion road cars, both widebody GSR-VRs.
    • Ah coolant overflow, previous discussions make way more sense now lol.
    • ok. Yea, then I would need to remove the turbo and weld an adapter on to it instead, if I fuc* this one up.
