Hey guys, been having trouble with my Xenon lights on my GTR, the problem being the passenger side light intermittently stops working. Once it turns on it's fine, it's just a matter of getting it to turn on. 99% Just siting there turning the headights on and off a couple of times usually results in the light working however there's that 1% where it won't turn on at all. I've narrowed down the problem to the module underneath the light itself, I guess you'd call it the ignitor pack, I have no idea what the real name is... What I'm asking is does anyone know where I could buy a replacement part and what I'll be expecting to pay for it (a damn lot from Nissan I'd say)

Any other ideas would be helpful, but I think this is my only alternative :D

I think you're talking about the ballast. Its the proper name for the igniter i think. And yeah it does sound like that could be your problem. You could try checking the connections to it, troubleshooting it with a multimeter, or taking it to an auto elec to do it? to make sure it really is the ballast that is faulty?

Otherwise to get 2nd hand one you could check out yahoo japan auctions (importmonster.com.au can let you browse/import) or try to find a S3 GTR that is being wrecked locally - would be pretty hard to find.

Good Luck.

Not too sure if Nissan fixed the problem for the R33's, but on the 32's, the switch itself would be the problem. The contact are in the switch just wears out and current just stops going through it.

i'm not sure were you could buy it from, my guess would be nissan but i say the price well be very over-priced (nissan quote me $439 for my globe)

if you wanted a quick fix you could always buy one of those china spec HID ballast and use that but that would required you to cut the wires and it could become messy

Ah, ballast, that's the name I was looking for. It's definately that, I switched the other headlights ballast to the dodgy side and it worked first time every time so I'm 100% sure that's my problem there. Just need to find one of the bastards now!

slidewize imports can probably help.

Good luck, I'm hoping my R33 never does this as xenons cost too much

To make sure its the balast switch the passengers side balast to the drivers side and see if the drivers side light plays up. It could be your combo switch on the column stalk and you may end up buying a balast for nothing .
