This is taking forever! When i asked RACV how long she has to get her car assessed and pay her excess they said about 2 weeks.. Its been about that now i called her up she said she took it in to be assessed but isnt actually getting it fixed until End of June/Early July because she cant be without a car for 3 days.. This shouldnt have anything to do with me. I asked if she fax'ed the assessment through, she said nah.. im waiting on the paperwork to pay the excess.. I told her give them a call tomorrow and tell them u got the assessment and pay the excess over the phone because i need my car fixed asap.

Turning into a pain in the ass now i'll see what she has to say when she calls me back tomorrow.. If i dont like ill call up RACV tuesday and see whats up.

Meanwhile i just paid for my Vertex kit for $800.. Subtract the $704 cheque ill get.. I get a full body kit for $96! Gotta love insurance (when its not your fault!) Oh and ive just gone and paid for 3rd party fire/theft insurance from justcars $663 with excess of $1900  .. Backup plan just incase i accidently smash a mercedes or something

Get insurance... otherwise ask them to settle private.

Ive got insurance now.. Cant tell them to chase the money up now after its already happened when i was uninsured.. so hopefully RACV stop's being so slack and asks her for the money and it all works out.. I think i'll call them tomorrow and say its been 2 weeks wheres my cheque u havent sent any paperwork do your job!

SHould of went with famous insurance, used to be called young and cool, they put market value but, its still cheap im paying full comp, 1430 with exess of like 600 or less not quite sure but way lower than just cars, only going with them for 1 year till i can go with shannons, shannons said that i need to be driveing the car for 1 year :S

Ahhh some great news =]

Called up RACV and told them how she's been and got her car assessed etc.. They said yep shes fulfilled her policy we'll send you the cheque today for $852..

So not only do i get my cheque this week.. They've mixed something up and are sending me the amount of the more expensive quote instead of the $704 quote!

Got my new replacement Vertex kit today from DMD =]

Anyone have a guide on how to install it? Like everything to take off exactly what to do etc.. Or so it simply fit it up, drill holes where needed and just screw it on? I would have no clue about sideskirts and rear bar.. Been looking for a guide havent been able to find one..

Thanks

The other party is requesting two quotes from me and send it to them. I think they're going to send RACV those quotes. Just not sure if it would work the same way, as in RACV contacts me for the payment instead of the panel beater to negotiate or something.

Ask them to lodge a claim with RACV then give you the claim number. RACV are the ones you send the quotes to. They have to get their own car assessed but thats a different story. The repairs might be cheaper then their excess so maybe thats why their asking for the quotes. Call RACV and give the claim number and say you got 2 quotes where do i fax it to and they'll tell u.. Then fax it through then ring the next day or something and they'll most probably say they'd send you a cheque for the cheaper quote as soon as their client pays their excess.. Unless its a cheap repair then they might pay for the repairs.

This was the situation with me so im not sure if its always the same but if it is then this is the way to go to get paid as fast as possible.

Good luck with everything man..

thanks for the explanation.. I will send them a copy of the quotes so they can decide to lodge a claim and keep a copy for myself then.. so I can send it to RACV later. Cause at the moment, they refuse to lodge a claim without seeing the quotes even after I told them how much the quote was. It's good that yours worked out.. so hopefully it will for me too. :)

I was rear ended a few months ago and the guy was also very un co operative

My quote was $4600.. the guy wasn't avoiding me, he just was very slow on making the insurance claim to his company,

I know how its very frustrating.

At least its a win win. $100 to your next mod.

What will happen is that once the stock ECU sees more airflow than it expects it will add a heap of fuel and pull a heap of timing to be safe because it can't understand how it could get that much air without there being an issue. You will see clouds of black smoke and it won't pull hard through the midrange and top end. So, overall it will be a bit frustrating but should be OK. If you are still nervous set the base timing back 2o through the CAS, but it will be even more sluggish everywhere. As said above through...this is not my guarantee your engine won't be blown into a million pieces, leaving you looking for very hard to find parts A better idea is get a computer with logging ASAP, wire in a wide band O2 sensor and a use remote tuner. I've done multiple cars this way and while it is not as good as a specific tune on a dyno they can get it 90% right. I'd suggest if you can afford an R33 GTR these days you can afford an ECU and tune. And if you can't afford that you sure won't be able to afford the rebuild if it goes bad in the meantime,.
    • Yeah it would be nice if someone took the time to put that sort of information together, but there are a lot of variations in looms. I think you are making this way hard for yourself if you just want to get it running....sourcing an SR20 with the right wiring will be a billion times easier than matching the RB loom to an S15 chassis. If you do end up going this way, you just need to trace every wire in the loom with a multimeter, 95% of them will go to a location you can confirm at the ECU.....and then post it up for the next person who needs it
    • Just top it up with water, and keep a general idea of how much you added. It is normal for water to be pushed into and pulled out of the reservoir through the cap, and it should not be more than half full or it will be likely to overflow when hot. Any decent mechanic can do a pressure test of the cooling system to confirm if you have a leak. Keep in mind if it is only leaking a little and when hot it may well evaporate before you see it hit the ground
    • I'd ask the shop what they used and use that. Mixing coolants is sometimes OK, sometimes not, and you have know the details of each coolant to know whether it's a good idea or not.
    • Is it alright to top up with just another green coolant?
