Hi Guys Just need some help. for the past week Im having problems starting my car. Almost everytime that I have to use it I have to Jump Start the Battery.

Nothings draining the battery but I think the battery does not charge at all.

My guess would be the alternator....but not 100% sure. Any advice will be good :)

Thanks in advance

So it's not pushing out enough voltage to turn the starter motor.

Basically, what Zennon said is your best option. Otherwise, if you're an RACQ member get them to come out and try it (and then try and sell you a battery). Either will do the same thing.

Yep its not pushing enough voltage... hmm looks like ill be needing a new Battery.

I'll go to an auto electrician to get it checked.

Thanks Guys for the Help and advice! :starwars:

have you got a meter handing at all? that will tell you if its just dropping the voltage when you turn the key which means its leaking somewhere.

are the terminals and connectors hot at all? that would indicate a shit connection in which case tighten the connector or check for a lose terminal. check water levels too. if you have a meter that will pretty much tell ya the story straight away.

hey bud , i had the same problem its your battery , with skylines if the battery dies you heara ticking sound when trying to turn the ignition over , usually means your battery doesnt hold charge anymore

My battery kept going flat in my 34 when i first bought her. I had the battery replaced under warranty by the car yard, but it still kept going flat. Ended up being the dodgey head unit that was in the car was draining the battery during the day. Some dodgey assed wiring or something.

i dont have a meter handing at all, I'll ask the electrician to check if theres any leak in voltage.

Its the cold weather. You always see a heap of batteries die as soon as the temperature starts getting colder.

Generally means its time for a new one. Whilst they always cycle in temperature normally, the big reductions

when you come into winter is enough to push them over the top.

Just means your battery is at the end of its life.

as you figured out by now, your battery isnt hloding charge..

best bet is buy a new one, not expensive.. no piss farting around.. however with certain batteries you can check the water level.. (little caps you can unscrew.. and make sure the water level is right..

but even then i'd still go with the new battery.. best option

sounds like a brisbane car sound thing ay :(

my battery is doing the same, ever since i had my alarm installed from brisbane car sound..

gone thru two batteries now... car is currently flat and dead at home, unless i jump it.

I don't think it means alarm is necessarily incorrectly installed though..

I have an old hilux with like no electronics - can leave that sit for a couple of weeks and all is fine

But if I leave the skyline sit for couple of weeks the battery goes dead (it has alarm)

ps. cold weather wouldn't be helping either

    • Will have a look at that. I cant see any leaks
    • Put another overflow bottle (ie, a 1.25 coke bottle or similar) under the overflow hose and see if it is being pushed out there or if it is disappearing into the engine.
    • Staring on a stand is no issue. You just have to wire everything up, give it fuel and cross your fingers that the stand is robust enough. Arranging the inlet plumbing is often the hardest part, without any surrounding structure to hand some of it from. No need for coolant if you only want to run it for <1 minute. As to the gearbox - I think the little Aisin box is a bit stronger than the other small Nissan boxes that went behind SRs, but I wouldn't be too keen to test its limits with the torque of a boosted 25. I don't know if you can retain the box and the tailshaft. The box won't connect to the RB without an adapter of some sort, which is either a plate that will push the engine forward (which is not good for fitting it into the bay's available space) or push the box back, which messes with the box position and tailshaft length - OR - cut and shut work on the bellhousing, which is a long way from "least modification". I'd be buying a new 370Z 6 speed or similar, doing what has to be done to that to make it fit RB (ie, cut and shut bellhousing) and the requisite tailshaft custom/mods.
    • Hi Everyone I am from West Pennant Hills in NSW. Been too busy until recently to attend to my RB25DET Series 2 engine until recently. I am planning to stick it into the S15 shell at this stage, unless a nice SR20DET turns up... For now, i am going to try and get the RB25 running and working well then decide what gearbox to use. My preference is to retain the SR20DET  6 speed gearbox and tail shaft to retain as much and least modifications as i can avoid. I am an old guy and won't be doing any heavy drifting so i don't need a bullet proof gearbox Does anyone have experience with starting the RB on a stand? I got everything setup as much as I can with the info i can find... endless searching and videos on Youtube I would be great to get some pointers Cheers Songo
    • Hey all, Recently have had my s1 r33 gtr serviced and noticed my coolant reservoir was topped up to the max line. Took the car out for 1 yesterday and noticed today the reservoir is completely empty.  Any ideas? Radiator is full
