John-
hey guys, just wondering if anyone can tell me what i can do to my car, for a bit more extra power, its a nissan pintara trx SSS 1990 ka24e car. its got forged pistons, light flywheel, bigger cams and throttle, bigger exhaust, extractors, CAI. now i was thinking, maybe new headers? the ones on it r only like 2 inch and there small. would new, bigger ones do anything? how about a fuel pump? lighter head gasket? maybe a bigger cam? i would love some ideas on this, because im going to go get it tunned after i do some more work to it, its currently doing 135kw @ wheels. Eug
why are you asking these questions when you have forged pistons??? if it's been rebuilt it should have been done the first time and done correctly. the formula for any well powered NA motor is: quality of fuel + compression ratio + intake and exhaust efficiency + tune = fuel pump and a reg will supply the fuel, but any power increase would be negligible. lighter head gasket? i've never heard of one of those. if it's a thinner head gasket then you'd be looking into compression ratios. a cam(shaft) will increase your motor's ability to breath, if you're chasing more 'power' at the cost of driveability - then i say rev the thing right out. here's what you do: - find a good tuner - find a good mechanic - sit down with both of them and nut out what application you are using the car for and adjust the compression ratio/fuel quality availability to suit - tear the entire motor down - forged rods - replace forged pistons if need be to achieve desired CR - skim the block or head if need be - port and polish the hell out of the head - deshroud the valve ports, oversize the valves, upgrade valve springs - regrind/new camshaft to suit tune/application + cam gear - balance bottom end as an entire package (ati/ross tuffbond balancer, crank, rods, pistons, flywheel) & knifeblade the crank as much as you can. lighten wherever and whatever you can - good quality sparkers, injectors, fuel system. - motec/autronic/pentium 4/etc. take your pick - custom tune length headers - tune tune tune tune tune - have a deep wallet - nitrous/forced induction problem is you will need revs to make power, and with revs comes wear and wear = longevity. i will leave this open in the meantime, however i suggest you try to search around the forums and see what everyone else does for their RBs and see what you can apply to your motor. the principals are the same, however the characteristics are not. try searching for a forum more specific to your car for more detailed responses. 135 at the wheels is impressive. good luck!! p.s. - is the twin cam head conversion do-able? might be something to look into Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/221886-more-powa/#findComment-3910780 Share on other sites

zebra
2" Headers are what we use on Blown V8s and 1 7/8" for NAT Atmo, 2" primary pipes are HUGE even on a 383+ cube V8 Definatley would want to see eveidence of power figures and strip times. As for going harder basicly as EUG said. only other thing I could think of would be ITBs but i doubt anyone has an off the shelf ITB kit for a KA24e...
