I was just on the way home from work in the vt and stopped too get fuel at the shell near boundry road a D car had some guy pulled up with the bonnet up. I asked what happened he said that the cop just reemed him stopped him for exhaust noise then went over it done him for POD filter, ehuast, screamer pipe and one i havent heard before where the cooler pipe returns through the inner guard did him for that hole. Not sure who he was he had a SAU sticker on the side of it was a tidy lookin white 4 door. This really sucks cause now i will have too be even more careful in mine  Damn kill joys.

lol.. yep that one through the car cut-out is a big no no.. why not just do it right the first time or pay someone to do it.. and as for the pod im sure the cops will let ya off if its secured to the car by two places (not just zippie tied down) a stock exhaust on a skyline doesnt even pass its over by about 2db.. screamer pipe was just askin for trouble tho i'd be curious to find out why he got pulled over in the first place....

feel sorry for the guy tho wasnt his day..

So it you cant have a hole how are you suppose to run a aftermarket intercooler?

i have one, apexi hybrid it just uses the standard piping holes.. but u can get someone to custom up one for ya without the hole. unsure if u can get it complied.?

yeh.. sound probably did it lol.

there are only a few kits that i have found with this return pipe under the cooler to the standard piping, one being the Blitz LM kits, and the other is an arc cooler kit. i have just bought myself the blitz kit, getting installed 2moro. that is the exact reason i bought it in the first place, they are expensive, but much better then having no licence for defects.

yep thats it mines an apexi tho, im curious whats the distance difference between one that goes that way and the way most people have their coolers mounted through a cut hole in the car?...

i love mine it always keeps it cool and ive never had any dramas, but alot of people tell me to get rid of it and buy a bigger one.. most people say that the turn at the bottom of the tank is bad?.. im sure it cant be good but does it really do that much? and also being on the same side as the intake how much does it flow through the core?... all these questions hah.

the engine is pretty much stock with abit of boost its a nice size cooler for the car i love it.

Whats bad is having it to through the reo bar then having some horrid piping going across over the fan then back over the engine to the stock plenum.... that makes baby jesus cry. I cant see why the bend would be a bad thing? same amount of air is getting sucked through. Also having the pipe go across the front would get a bit of cooling on it too I guess.

He said the cop pulled him over for noise, probably heard the screamer pipe.

no

and no

he wasnt even on boost at all the copper followed him for ages, he had made him ages back so was drivin as sedately as possible, the cop got sick of following him without him doing anything wrong so pulled him over for exhaust too loud then made him pop the bonnet...

police like that are scum

Yeah, the ones who are pricks about it certainly are.

Yeah, that sounds kinda lame :( But still, i know if i was a copper, it would be imports and modified cars i'd be targetting, because statistically they are more likely to have illegal modifications done to them. It only makes sense, and while it sucks for us, they are doing their job. Some can be pricks about it, but not all are. Like anything, hell Im a Computer tech/network admin, i could be a prick to people at my job too, doesn't mean all IT guys are pricks :D

I don't think i'd be able to be a cop, dealing with the cockheads of society every day would be the worst.

I know if someone stole my skyline, the cops be the first people i'd be telling about it :S

all the things that cop got him for sound legit.

so what's the big deal?

he took the risk by doing "illegal" mods (as stupid a law as we might think they are), and he got done for them.

why are people complaining about the cop?

as for the return flow coolers.

ARC, BLITZ, APEXI, and now COOLING PRO (from Just Jap and probably other places) make this.

and for the person saying it uses extra pipe, you're wrong.

the usual over the radiator, through the reo and look back around method uses the same or more piping than the return flow ones.

The cooling pro kits are about $500 I think.

towards the bottom

Hey gtst i wasnt sayin you actually use more pipe but per 90 degree bend it equates too an extra 1 meter of straight pipe it would have too flow through if it was say just going in a straight line so in turn the 180deg bend coolers might use the same amount of pipe as the other way but it has too travel through an extra length of 2 meters of pipe. If that makes sence lol i confused myself :D

    • I dunno about that as a blanket statement. Pitwork is Nissan's "Nissan genuine" thing, and for stuff like timing belts, I have found them to be excellent. Of course, for things like oil filters, you always use proper trusted brands anyway, not whatever the OEM has taken to using.
    • Ahhhh... If you were putting 12V to the led in there, that's likely made it very unhappy. Chances are how you put power, was 12V across an LED that's meant to only have about 20mA through it at peak, and a forward voltage of about 1.8 to 2.4 volts. That circuit is likely only a 3V3 circuit, and will have a resistor in series with the led too. That's my guesstimate on that light, without having touched one.
    • Another vote for installing them and see how you go.  I mean, you already own them, why would you not fit them?
    • I have had too many of those over the years, my cars have a toolkit or at minimum a cheapy multi tool thing because its too easy to be snookered by some stupid plastic clip that stops you checking the battery terminal isn't loose.
    • Basically, if there is a part# on the nissan catalogue, it is a genuine part. There is a thing called "new old stock" which is stuff made years ago but never sold (or landfilled), but it is super hit and miss what you can buy. Other than some expensive Nismo stuff there is nothing new being made that suits these cars. The only time to be a little careful is (mostly in the US I think, but maybe Japan too), Nissan started rebranding some cheap crap maintenance parts like oil filters as "Pitworks"; stay away from them, if you are buying cheap just buy whatever the local car parts shop carries The three part numbers have an explanation on Amayama: 0V005 is auto, base style 0V015 is manual 0V505 is auto, hectic momo branded ones, maximum F&F points there!
