yeah the cops just pic a car they wont and see if they can find anything wrong with it. i no when i had my GSR lancer with evo3 kit on it i used to get pulled over all the time cause it stood out and in my skyline i havent been pulled over yet and i drive that alot harder. I reckon its cause it looks stock no bodykit only mags.

hmmm. i got pulled over at a "defect" set up on clarence street i think it was in belerieve.

ive got a r31 rb30e+t, the car was wearing bald front tires at the time (got three punctures in my good ones so chucked some spares on ) car has a woodstock "catch" can.

they pulled me over, checked my back tires, didnt check under the hood (i had a dash mounted boost gauge so i thought they might have put the puzzle together) and then gave me a defect notice for having a headlight out, just the headlight not the parker, didnt check my front tires or anything else at all.

replaced the headlight, wiring was screwed so i twisted the parker wire together to the headlight wire and bing! no more defect... altough im sure its now heaops dodgier than having 3 lights at the front of your car insted of 4... they only gave me 72 hours to fix my headlight wiring :D

i have noticed quite often lately ive been pulled over alot, i dont mind tho, id like to think that if my car was stolen a cop would pull the crim over thinking it was me (hoon) and licence+bretho check so i could use that licence number they got to find who pinched ma car!!

as for your run in with the bov atmo being illegal, should have asked what legislation that reffers to and also what the lmax legal DB reading is and how they were measuring it, sure they would have done you over but its not liek they could have gotten you for hooning if your parked?? lol

is a trucks atmo bov illegal?? what about there hydro brakes when they pull up at the lights?? its basically the same sound

oh. cool  there ya go air brakes... once had one of my mums friends ask when i took her for a spin in the gts-4 "wha?? does this think have those hydralic brakes them trucks have??" so thats as far as my education on brakes on trucks goes :D

Trucks dont run blow off valves, they dont have throttle plates or even vacuum for that matter. Engine speed all controlled by fuel delivery...

so how does the air get into the cylinders in N/A trucks? vacuum generated by the pistons moving of course

the truck i drive is a v8 turbo diesel and that has got a wastegate on it and thats fairly loud. get pulled over all the time from transport in it. they pull all company trucks now trying to find anything wrong with them, even when they are brand new idiots.

Of course its got a wastegate, its not going to just freeboost is it.

I'm glad they pull trucks all the time. They're pretty f**king dangerous things to drivers and other motorists when not in tip top mechanical nick.

Yes there is vacuum generated on the intake stroke only, but there is no manifold vacuum since there is no throttle. Hence the reason for the use of vaccum pumps on smaller diesels with vacuum assisted brakes.

and how often does the intake stroke occur?

and the only reason for the vacuum pumps is becuase the vacuum that is generated by the engine isn't enough to run brakes powerful enough to stop the truck/

Most trucks use air operated brakes, climb back in your hole wombat.

I was making a point that trucks dont use blow off valves because they dont have a throttle plate, what happens when you open the throttle completely on an aspirated engine?? Manifold vacuum disappears.

Thanks for the education though, ill keep it all in mind. As Wogboy said, once you create a restriction the vacuum is huge.

Getting back on topic now....

Yeah good idea, I'm not sure about anyone else up here in Northwest tas but I haven't any trouble with cops pulling me up for my car and my gtr runs sequential bovs and they ain't exactlly queit but then neither is my car. Which wogboy can confirm

    • Thanks for the reply @GTSBoy Haven't really thought of that yet, but you are right. If the hose was damaged it should be absolutely pissing by now. I'll put some heat sleeve around it for good measure since I'm already removing the line anyway.  Maybe I'll put on some of the stock hardlines if I ever fully remove the turbos again. Maybe when T51R modding the compressor housings? Might be a fun mod on GT28s for that "fake single turbo" effect.
    • Update 1: I did some work on the car already before finalizing this post and my "issues" list. I dropped the Tomei exhaust in favor of the HKS Hi Power Silent. Sounds nice and I can actually hear myself think now. Also gives me a realistic chance to legally drive without silencer inserts. A bit of cheating was necessary to still be able to mount the Top Secret style diffuser. Some malusage of washers and a bit of "convincing" toward the brackets and exhaust hanger seemed to do the trick. The shaky steering wheel has been resolved as various suspension components were worn, like sway bar bushings and link bars. Most notably the two steering tie rod ends. Had some trouble finding bushings because my sway bars are not OEM thickness, 23.x up front and 27 rear. But non adjustable, so no aftermarket I suppose. Maybe they are nismo units? Turbo oil drain hoses were definitely still the originals and are new now. Wasn't the cause of the turbo oil leak sadly. Currently removing the rear turbo because of it, I suspect the braided oil feed line is the culprit. This issue needs to be dealt with so I can work towards actually getting the turbo setup legal and inspected. Two new issues to add to the list as well. Rear Main seal is probably leaking. Time will show how bad it is, I don't really want to drop the gearbox right now just for the stupid seal. Could fix a few other things in one go once I do that. Front right driveshaft grease is going past the cv boot, so at some point I'll fix that too.
    • Ok so no 4cyl clutch... Yeah it is a factory manual. So if iam correct i need clutch and flywheel too? I can use something that suits something like R32 GTST?   EDIT: https://www.ebay.com/itm/224291042776 Is this ok?   EDIT2: i maybe forget to mention this(dk how important it is) but the trans will be behind RB25DET NEO(iam doing swap) It will be there for a little while. Iam planing to do bigbox or BMW tranny..
    • You're probably right about that one. Thanks for your suggestions, I hope I don't need a new 3rd brake light. Although wiring issues might arguably be worse. Right now I'm in the midst of a turbo removal because of my oil leak, other problems are going to have to wait for now.
    • Hell, I know that much. So far I just put it off as "part of the deal".
