yeah thought it was from ATP

bought the same turbo for a customer awhile back with the same anti surge compressor housing but with the .63 exhaust housing and the anti surge realli does make a difference if ur going to be using the .63 housing

what sort of difference are we talking? I have the .63 and no surge issues. boost control, shit yes, surge, no. I do have 256/264 cams though.

-33- also has a .63 IW. He hasn't mentioned surge either, just the boost control problems

good choice of tuner too btw Gary

Yes it's a funny thing Dave, some cars have surge, some don't. Cams will definately be on the cards for the future. I'm hoping that will reduce the overlap for more timing.

Yeah, I think Yavus is great, takes a cautious attitude to tuning. Don't you just get sick and tired of tuners that shake your hand then tell you to come back in the afternoon to pick it up ? I want to be there to tell them how far to go and make sure tune for drivability, fuel economy, safety and only then power.

I've been there every time my car has been on the dyno.

I don't know that cautious is the right word, but he is certainly very careful during the initial stages of a tune making sure all the basics are covered before starting to chase power.

I can guarantee he will push you to jam some boost into it. :P

Or maybe he just does that to me because he knows i'll let him.....

And I can guarantee I'll let him jam some boost into it. BUT, 270 is what I'm after so we'll see. Buy the way, I'm thinking peak boost on this turbo would be around 22lbs. The compressor map seems to indicate 17lbs as right in the meat of the turbo's potential. What do you think ?

It'll depend on the engine really. I couldn't run more than 21psi with my old setup before valve float, others have run more.

Because of the boost control problems i haven't really been able to push mine but it was making 255-260 pretty easily on 16psi. You may need a bit more boost as you don't have cams in there.

    • So either way it is gearbox out and look what is wrong?  I know about the input shaft bearing. Even before swap/new clutch the it sounded exactly like this: So is that inout shaft bearing or the other was installed backwards?  And can some please tell me the part number for that input shaft bearing? The gearbox is small box from R34 N/A and number is FS5W71C. Thank you
    • I am yet to see anyone ever regret a quaife or helical. ...other than drifting/skidpan duties. I kind of want to upgrade my factory helical with a Quaife (but really it's not ultimately that different, and is a MASSIVE UNDERTAKING), that's how good the hype is about them, that I want to try them 'just to see'
    • D2 and Ksport are essentially the same thing and basically just generic Taiwanese manufacture. Better than ChinaBay crap, but... not top shelf. Öhlins have got to be some of the best dampers around, so likely to be a good option. It's going to get to the point though where I suggest you buy from Oz. We have at least 2x excellent options here. If I were you though, I'd be talking to KW about doing something for the R33. There's bugger all difference between that and the 32. In GTR land, anyway.
    • KW only offers a set for the R32 GTR. Popular options are D2 racing, Ksport or Öhlins. I have a D2 Racing coilover set, though I don't know for sure which one.
    • Well, the good news is you have more than one very good option for new coilovers in and around your country. Worth the drive over to KW to talk about GTR stuff.
