guys I just read an article in zoom according to this we are allowed 95db exhaust noise level, what I don't get though is in the article it said they have only to DECC approved defect clearance stations in nsw, the granvilled 1 and campbeltown 1 now I've had a defect cleared else where, so I'm assuming that you only have to go to these 2 if the police request you to go here or if the EPA defect you, otherwise it's ok to go to any blue slip place, am I correct to assume this or what? Can some one elaborate on this cheers

While generally correct, I would check issues like this in magazines with people who make the rules. i.e. RTA, EPA, and registered signatories.

what year model is your car? cause im pretty sure the legal limit is actually 91db

if they have ticked on your defect notice only one of these 2 people can clear your defect then you have to go to one of them , if i was you id go to the cambeltown guy, im talking from experience the guy at granville is the biggest d******** ,

take a picture of your defect notice post it up so we can see what your in for ??

i to agree have heard a few people have told me the granville guy is a c**k. i've been to the cambelltown guy. he wasnt bad. everything by the book.

can you recommend where you got your engineers from? as i want to engineer my car for little things that cops love to defect at a guess.

Place called T.I.C Done mine there in kirrawee somewere , done very good job actually , RTA Couldnt believe i got my race seat engineered .....

my car passed emissions with FMIC , Filters , 3 1/2 exsaust , Engine mods , it is possible but i had to get a re tune done which cost me about $1000 , it was done By HITMAN in penrith , if you ever have any problems passing your emission testing as in if you cant pass just take your car there and hell sort it out for you...

didnt get it engineered , problem solved though as i bought a varex muffler electronic silencer kit , when i get pulled over press of a button car goes quiet , so car can be as loud as you want but press of a button makes it so quiet , good for neighbours and stuff..

ahhh k , yes was also looking into this for the exhaust. just a bit pricey atm. where did you get yours done at?cheapest i have found is $400 of boost (the muffler that is)

I Got it fitted wired everything it was about $550 bucks which is reasonable price , Place called WESTERN MUFFLERS Hes on fairfield St In Fairfield . he does alot of work on my R34 GTR ....

Yeah supplied as well it was i think 550-600 which i wreckon is pretty good , you get warranty , its always available you dont have to wait as in its in australia and not japan ....

By the way, in regards to noise level, the car cannot be louder than 89dB at 4500rpm...

I've been through this with both my R33 at Granville, and S14 at Cambeltown...

is it 89 now? when i went cambelltown it was 91, cause mine measured 96. its bullshi* isnt it

Yep, it is 89dB... mine was 105dB on idle and 114.2dB on 4500rpm.

The guy wasn't impressed, but the young mechanic there fell in love...

Kinda helps when you have an exhaust lol
