if anyone out there is a qualified motorbike mechanic or small engine mechanic or runs a small shop i have a 04 yzf450 that needs a top end rebuild and gearbox rebuild the engine will be supplied out of the bike with all parts all i need you to do is break it down and put it back together will only let someone whom has done this before do this.

cheers jason

I've been rebuilding/modding bikes for 19 years. Not qualified, but never had one blow up on me. Build my own race bike and swapped many gearboxes, including a clapped out ZXR750.

Might know of a few guys if you want someone qualified. Just need to check who's still in the industry.

:O

pm me a contact number and will ring and have a chat just after some one who has done these engines before as 4th gear is jolting slightly when in gear may have a bent selector fork so might need some know how of the engine itself not sure.

It is rare that 4th gear problems would be the result of a bent selector fork. Thats normally a sign of 2nd gear abuse (wheelies, drag racing etc). can you give me a better description of the problem. Is the 'jolting' in a given rev range (maybe a tuning problem) in 4th or might even be a output gear thrust bearing problem ... could be anything really. Does it jump out of gear? = bent selector and worn gears. In any case, you'd want a gearbox lined up and selectors too, before starting the swap. I did the job to my brother's ZXR (he had no 2nd gear whatsoever), my old Honda and a mate's TLR (big v-twins chew sprockets then gearboxes) :O

well the bike runs and starts fine and acclerates in all other gears perfect but when put into 4th gear and you try to acclerate the bike jolts constantly it doesnt jump out of gear as such it just jolts along as if you were hitting a fuel cut weird really.

Dangerman has a R1 in his quad bike don't know if he re built it himself and don't know if he does work for other people

but the thing is absolute nuts

LOL get it right Steve its a zx10r engine....

and yes i have and can rebuild them, but no im not interested. to much work on as it is....

    • Yep, the closest base tune available was for the GTT, I went with that and made all the logical changes I could find to convert it to Naturally Aspirated. It will rev fine in Neutral to redline but it will be cutting nearly 50% fuel the whole way.  If I let it tune the fuel map to start with that much less fuel it wont run right and has a hard time applying corrections.  These 50% cuts are with a fuel map already about half of what the GTT tune had.  I was having a whole lot of bogging when applying any throttle but seem to have fixed that for no load situations with very aggressive transient throttle settings. I made the corrections to my injectors with data I found for them online, FBCJC100 flowing 306cc.  I'll have to look to see if I can find the Cam section. I have the Bosch 4.9 from Haltech. My manifold pressure when watching it live is always in -5.9 psi/inHg
    • Hi My Tokico BM50 Brake master cylinder has a leak from the hole between the two outlets (M10x1) for brake pipes, I have attached a photo. Can anyone tell me what that hole is and what has failed to allow brake fluid to escape from it, I have looked on line and asked questions on UK forums but can not find the answer, if anyone can enlighten me I would be most grateful.
    • It will be a software setting. I don't believe many on here ever used AEM. And they're now a discontinued product, that's really hard to find any easy answers on. If it were Link or Haltech, someone would be able to just send you a ECU file though.
    • Yes sir am asking is there possible way from aem tuner from wiring pins
    • Have you checked cam to crank timing and confirmed balancer marks are correct?
