Hi guys.

Some of you will know that I have been having the engine light SLIP light and TCS OFF light coming on. it did it this morning on the freeway and I realised the engine was running badly. I pulled over and shut the car off. After about 2 minutes I started it and it came good again. it felt like it was only running on 5 cylinders or something. It was really shaky and sounded like it was struggling. I really need to get this sorted out ASAP. Im in Osborne park and really not looking forward to driving home tonight. do any of you know what the problem might be? And also where around here I can maybe take the car at lunch and have a diagnostic done? With my working hours I don’t know where I would be able to because every were is closed before I get to work and by the time I get home.

Regards,

maybe try go to nissan in ossy park just off scarb bch road?

not sure if they will charge u ne thing but maybe go in n tell them ur situation n maybe they can point u where to go?

I drove around to heaps of garages at lunch yesterday with no luck. I drove home and didnt have a problem last night thankfuly. I got the train today lol.

I didnt bother going to nissan because i already knew they would not be able to help me. With the last car when my keys got stolen they were not even able to help me with anything other that ordering the new keys. They also said they were not even able to get a workshop manual for that car (well one that was in english any way)

i am going to have to try to find somewhere that i can take it to tomorrow.

Can any one recomend a good workshop that should that the car to that will be open on a saturday?

Ah yeah they helped heaps thanks mate. Had it hooked up to the diagnostic today and the fault is an ignition error. Im guessing it would almost definitely be the coil packs like every one else. The diagnostic cost 90 bucks. My girlfriend took it in. Seems bloody steep for a 2 minute job? all they do is hook the laptop up to it and it tells them what the fault is.

Does any one know where i can go and buy my self some spitfires? or one of the other brands, i remember reading somewhere about a couple of other brands that are ment to be good (or am i best to just get the spitfires?).

im not really all that sure exactly how it all works but im guessing it is my coil packs that are gone. are spitfires a direct relpacement for these? or something totally different?

ok i have no patience so i have already gone onto just jap and paid for a set of JJR coil packs. i hope it was the correct choice and that it fixes the problem. I think i will make sure i get myself some good plugs and find out what the best gapping will be for them while im at it.

    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
    • So, now all you need to do is connect the 2 or 3x 12v feeds into the unit to permanent 12v, ACC 12V and IGN 12V that you can find in the spot behind the stereo, and the earth, and then it will switch on with the car.
