Recommended Posts

my cars been keyed .. few deep and non deep.. i dont wanna repsray my whole car as its gonna cost a few grand..

i just wanna fix the parts where its scratched and theres a few cracks that need fixxing

My car is PEARL WHITE.. Anyone know a place to get it fixxed up?

how much it'll cost more importantly??

thx

I like to do it my self if it isn't so bad, it's a bit disappointing at first but after you keep at it for awhile you become quite pleased with yourself, why don't you try it? They way I see it if you use your brain a little then you can always try in a small area and if you make it worse it wont cost you much more then it would have to get it done in the first place, of course the upside is if you can manage to do it yourself you save a good wad of cash and gain a new skill

Edit: If you insist on getting a body place to do it there is a list on one of the stickies I think, a quick search should sort you out

Edit 2: If you want to do it yourself here something you might want to consider getting

Spot filler: Depends how deep your cars been keyed, I doubt you will need it but just in case

Primer: Only really necessary if the bare metal is showing, although some people like it as a base anyway even if it isn't

Sand Paper: Again if it's not very deep you prob wont need it, but the finer grit will help in getting the peeled edges just don't go to crazy with it you'll scratch areas that are fine

Paint: Check your color code get a can/spray made up (can should be fine in this case)

Clear Coat: Apply last to get that nice smooth feel

Painters Tape: Go crazy with this if you plan on using spray paint, you think it wont spray that far but when it does you'll be sorry you didn't tape newspaper over the clean bits

I might have left some things out, it's really late I'll check what I wrote in the morning....later

just got some work done by Chris at CR Car Repairs he came to me at work and did an awesome job on my car 0431 409 177. Fixed my whole front bar crappy paint and a scratch on my rear for just over $200.

    • Well, this, but braided line to the sender that is mounted on the chassis. Oil Pressure doesn't need to be close, while I prefer Oil Temp is in the active oil flow (bro science, not sure how much it matters).  That's how I've had mine set up for years and it works OK

    • But, per MBS206's question, what happens when it doesn't start. When you turn the key to IGN, do the dash lights come on (then go off after a couple of seconds) - likely alarm or other electrical issue When you turn the key to STRT do you head a clear click (the starter solenoid trying) without the engine turning (likely starter motor)
    • I had 3 counts over the last couple of weeks once where i got stranded at a jdm paint yard booking in some work. 2nd time was moving the car into the drive way for the inspection and the 3rd was during the inspection for the co2 leak test. Fix: 1st, car off for a hour and half disconnected battery 10mins 4th try car started 2nd, 5th try started 3rd, countless time starting disconnected battery dude was under the hood listening to the starting sequence fuel pump ect.
    • This. As for your options - I suggest remote mounting the Nissan sensor further away on a length of steel tube. That tube to have a loop in it to handle vibration, etc etc. You will need to either put a tee and a bleed fitting near the sensor, or crack the fitting at the sensor to bleed it full of oil when you first set it up, otherwise you won't get the line filled. But this is a small problem. Just needs enough access to get it done.
