i'm not in plumbing but its probly the best/second best apprenticeship to get into IMO. good conditions and good money, very few trades have both of those. providing u can handle unblocking the odd toilet, you should be fine. when your qualified, get your qualifications to be a roof plumber, i dont know whats involved, but call a roog plumber and just ask him what it costs to do some basic things. :D

Given my time again - its what i would have done. :D

Go for it! Look where the plumbers are now compared to 10 years ago (in an even better position than they used to be which wasnt so bad even then)

If the parents let me dropout in year 10 like i wanted, i could have taken over a very successful plumbing business by now... but well, parents know best ey?

Definately one of the better trades IMO for interesting things to go/places to be in etc.

I was working up @ Tulla Airport in Qantas Maint for 3 years during the '90's on school holidays, saw some very cool gear and got to do some great things :P

    • Just to add, I found the r32 gtr ecu the most forgiving, the r33 one would get the shits.
    • For what it’s worth I drove my gtr for over a decade with gt-ss as a true daily after I pulled off the -5s, I had it engineered and went with stock ecu etc.  never skipped a beat.    I would only worry if you can’t get good fuel all the time in a tropical paradise
    • I bought an engine from a friend of a friend many years ago, it was sold to me as a RB25det Neo.    recently I started pulling it apart and noticed that the intake manifold was pretty different from others that I had seen on RB engines so did a bit of research and found that it was a non turbo manifold. So I’m sceptical now that it is a NEO DET and just thinking it’s a NEO DE (it does have a turbo strapped to it currently).    can you identify the engine model from the numbers on the block?
    • Yeah you can. Cable tie the gauge to a windscreen wiper, or run it into the car and hold it with one hand, or have the neighbour's kid run alongside and tell you what it says.
    • I've never understood why this bothers people. Surely you'd be looking at a T3 flanged Garrett style thing, rather than a TD? You're unlikely to push a +T hard enough to need that much fuel. If you're not starting with most of the things you need to do that (ie, the bloody ECU!), you're better off just going Haltech/Link. You wil hate life a lot less. No. Just no. Just turbo it as is.
