i was browseing the various turbo sites on the internet the other day and came across the gt25 garrett turbo with internal wastegate, not hks. the specs are as follows: 440hp or 500hp turbine, .70 comp cover , 4inch bellmouth inlet and .86 exhaust. apparently bolts onto t28 or to3 flange. my question is , does anyone know of this turbo or is running one and if so whats the power and response like? ease of fitment? compared to high flow T03?

Hi bigcarl, I have never seen a GT25R that makes 500 bhp. Even with the 0.86 A/R turbine housing they only make around 440 bhp. Pretty much the same as a ball bearing high flow RB25DET turbo. They normally come with a T28 flange (they are very popular on SR20's) but you could probably get them with a T3.

Hope that helps

tell that to boostd, hes getting over 400hp with a vg30 hybrid? i appreciate youre advice but my budget doesnt stretch to $ 5000. $2300 turbo , $1400 manifold, $750 external wastegate, new oil lines, pipeing and labour. then another $ 3000 to strengthen engine internals. also no power under 4000rpm!

y not its only money!! :D

its get hard to control boost with internal gate at higher hp.

My internal gate looses boost at high rpm, I've tried everything and it won't hold more than .9bar after 5000rpm. I could fix this with an external gate, but, why! I'm not interested in making more power!!! The tyres are just to damn expensive. (brand new 18 inch 275's lasted 6 weeks)

I did the 12.9 with 220rwkw and 255 17" tyres. My 2.2 60 footer shows the launch was crap. I have to get the rear end sorted. Haven't run with the new turbo as yet.

Managed to get the turbo to hold 1.2 bar @ 5000 rpm then trail off back to .9bar , was getting wheel spin in forth.....running semi slicks now to !

    • Why are you so adamant on going M12? Why not follow Brad (GTSBoy) suggestion. You're talking moving from a 1/8" size, to a 1/2" effectively. 4 times bigger. Why skip the commonly available sizes in between? The bigger you go, the more likely you are to strip the threads out at a later date, as guaranteed, someone will put a huge spanner on the M12 and really tighten it up, and you're only in thin wall, so not a lot of threads to engage!
    • Hi. Yeah thanks. Car is already at tuners and it staying there to resolve "many" issues they do not like. So it is in a good hands. Getting a good tune on that Nistune ECU too so the car would be good. Just needs a little tune up and love.
    • Probably gonna remove manifold and turbo. I’m not sure if I can get M12 x 1.5 air tight. Could use high temp Loctite 246 or something similar, but I don’t know. Maybe it’s just best to remove everything again and weld an 1/8NPT on there instead.
    • Yeah, saw the ratios, not impressed. Would like the punch I have in the first gears now. With those ratios it won't be the same.  Also want the h pattern gearing, or at least a quiet gear set that don't need to come apart for service each year. Looks like the only "reasonable" way Is a 8hp70 transmission, but where is the fun in that🤷‍♂️
