hey guys...

after the catastrophe that was our newy meet up, bakes and i thought of doing another putty cruise.. so heres an idea.

Superlap is on March 29.. should be some awesome cars there this year after the success of the event last year.

its at oran park... which from newy, on good freeway run is around 3.5hrs.. which is the same time its takes via the putty.. and its much more fun. i have left oran park at 3.30 and made it home to newcastle by 6.30... obeying the road rules.

it would mean leaving newi early... say 6ish, from hexham maccas.. up the highway to Branxton, turn off and head to Broke, and then get on the putty from there.

its a straight run to oran park from there... very few turn offs.. and very little traffic.

maybe we could get a group pass/discount type of thing to the event.

its 68 days to the event, so plenty of time to get this organised..

ive done early morning putty runs and it is spectacular... with the sun just coming up and shining through the trees, low clouds sleeping in, birds waking up, and very little traffic... its almost magical, and well worth getting up for. add to that, the sound of a group a skylines and it will be a cruise you will want to do every year.

lets keep it strictly skylines.. and if your from central coast or north.. its up to you if you want join in.

lets get some ideas rolling and get this settled and moved to the events section

cheers

im not sure as there wasnt a great deal of interest when i first posted this, but its getting close and im still keen.

this isnt for superlap contenders... this just an idea for an early morning cruise, down the putty, to watch some of our mates racing around... the earlier we leave, the more we get to watch, and get to pick what time we wish to cruise home.. rather than leaving at say 10 or 11am and getting there at 1pm or 2pm, we will leave at 6, 7, or 8am and get there at 9, 10, or 11am... watch it for a bit, then leave at 3ish and be home in newy by 6ish.

i meant to ring the organisers and find out how much it is for spectator entry.. but ive been lazy.

cheers

Hey linton - if i still had the gtr id be keen....!

Hope its a good day - post up a few pics mate.

and why dont you have the gtr anymore dave??? huh?? huh?? yeh.. you just... yeh you know... :D

the way my 32 is at the moment dave, i may just need a tow vehicle.... spose your ute could do that... haha.

heres a quick map

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source...amp;t=h&z=9

as you can imagine, the time would be significantly improved as google would be taking it at signposted speeds.. plus if we leave early.. there will be bugger all traffic.

might be time to move this to the events section

Do you know what the Pins? or know where i can find the same pinout diagram for the RB dash plug? Thanks for the advice on the box... i like a 6 speed so might be on the lookout or the box now.. a topic of discussion for another post...
    • Will have a look at that. I cant see any leaks
    • Put another overflow bottle (ie, a 1.25 coke bottle or similar) under the overflow hose and see if it is being pushed out there or if it is disappearing into the engine.
    • Staring on a stand is no issue. You just have to wire everything up, give it fuel and cross your fingers that the stand is robust enough. Arranging the inlet plumbing is often the hardest part, without any surrounding structure to hand some of it from. No need for coolant if you only want to run it for <1 minute. As to the gearbox - I think the little Aisin box is a bit stronger than the other small Nissan boxes that went behind SRs, but I wouldn't be too keen to test its limits with the torque of a boosted 25. I don't know if you can retain the box and the tailshaft. The box won't connect to the RB without an adapter of some sort, which is either a plate that will push the engine forward (which is not good for fitting it into the bay's available space) or push the box back, which messes with the box position and tailshaft length - OR - cut and shut work on the bellhousing, which is a long way from "least modification". I'd be buying a new 370Z 6 speed or similar, doing what has to be done to that to make it fit RB (ie, cut and shut bellhousing) and the requisite tailshaft custom/mods.
