always wanted one but if I get a new helmet it will be for when I get my bike and the simpson ones aren't legal for road use. The haven't had the required testing to be standard compliant...

@Colin: bike helmets are allowed under the current regs, as long as they meet AS1698. I use one.

BUT as Josh has said, they are not rated for the same kind of impacts as motorsport helmets. A new helmet for me has been long overdue, I guess that makes me a muppet

I have been trying to track down solid info on what the requirements are changing to. I beleive they are dropping AS1698, and possibly a lot of the other older standards as well, and requiring a HANS device. I'm not going to buy a helmet until I know it will meet the new regs.

Best fitting helmets I've ever tried. So light aswell. I reckon my next helmet will be a Shoei helmet. Mum n Dad have both got Shoei's and they're great.

I thought they changed the regs so they had to be compliant with an AS/NZ code not just the AS one. Not sure will have to do a little research

I've got a couple of road bike helmets. I think they may be out of date. BS if I cant use them they're legal on the road so why not down a drag strip...

You can.. If they are in date.

at an event, you might as a road helmet isnt anything like a moto-x/dirt bike helmet.

at a CAMS event, thats a whole other story. They can ask you to go home with a JAP cage if they wish.

The problem is, is it going to be all across the board - ANDRA/CAMS/AASA

people already have them from when they did mx - so they figure they might as well get good use out of them while they are still learning - until they decide they want to get more involved, and then get a proper helmet..

or is that just me and dave?

    • Thanks GTSboy. I will inspect the valves actually, is this something I can do while they are still in the head? The block/bores don’t look bad to be honest hey, I can still see the cross hatches in the bores and they still measure 86.5mm. I’m not sure how to measure the installed ring gaps but I will do that and take it to someone who can.
    • I’ve had the same headache with my lowered car, scissor jack first then floor jack every time. Ended up grabbing an extra-low profile aluminum jack (about 70mm entry height) and it finally slides under the lip without drama.
    • No sync errors , i have installed AEM disk will return original 360 slot disk and check if there’s any one with running AEM disk could share setup
    • Its been a while! Finally thought to do something on this car, so here we go. This will be a slow burning, multiple posts as I spend 0.5-1hr a day on this job, over multiple days... Full set of GKTech suspension arms!   Step 1: Buy Arms, done! Step 2: Start removing stuff. HICAS was easy. Rear suspension arms are now gone, they were a bitch but breaker bars with long handle extensions, 2 1.5hr slots later, stock arms are off! Next step, remove the hubs and take them to work to press out the bearings and bushings!
