Gonna give dan a call and see if I need those bloody bushes. f**king hell... everytime I deeper to what I need, I find a bigger hole in my pocket.

speaking of tyres, i would have to say the admirals (kuhmos cheapo range) that i was using yesterday were amazingly good, and at $90 each they'e nice and cheap too!

they lasted ages and didnt chunk up n shit

what tyres though? :D

ohhhh what brand

I dunno... he said they were rebadged khumos *shrug*

anyway - on the first day God said "let there be rims!"

and he saw that there were rims. and it was good.

And on the second day God said unto John PUT THEM ON THE CAR BIATCH. And through God's fury John saw the light and all was well.

Yeah I'm gonna need me some new tyres soon too..... cheap and good you say? Hmmm....

Anyway I'm bailing on tonight guys..... got me a pool party to enjoy :P

Copy pasted rant from my build thread on lowball club :P:

OK so I picked up my panels, and unfortunately, after getting home and checking them out, I'm not real happy

The guard is GREAT. Really happy with how that turned out. Which is good, because once it is back on, the other two parts are easy to get on and off

The filler panel has a big run in the paint, and what looks like a chip/bubble where the grey is missing, but has been clear coated over

The front bar is even worse. The vents have not been repainted, so must have been mounted AFTER he painted it (I told him to do it before as there is some paint chips in the vents) and have been attached dodgily with sikaflex. There are HUGE gaps at the top you can see the sikaflex through. There are a number of imperfections in the paint, and the black at the top is not 'shiny' like the rest of the car - its pretty much flat black.

So, pretty annoyed right now  . But I think the plan of attack will be to put it all back together, then drive it to him to point out the things I am not happy with and see what can be done. The reasons I want to put it back together first are:

1) To see if there are any other issues (ie guard not lining up right or something - not likely but worth checking)

2) It will be easier to show the difference in the black compared to the rest of the car.

I have fixed up all the surface rust in the engine bay with my custom 'engine bay grey' paint. This includes the bonnet hinges, inside corners of the bonnet, underneath the bonnet hinges, underneath the guards, etc. IT was all very light surface rust (sanded of with 800 grit) but now there is none :) . The only bit left to paint is the tops of the strut towers, which paintmaster dan is going to do for me tomorrow.

So hopefully that all goes well, and I will put it back together on the weekend, and go back to the paint shop with a please explain on Monday.

Just goes to show that just because a place is recommended to you as being good, doesn't mean they necessarily are.

    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
    • Yeah mate, never miss it.
    • Any going to watch World Time Attack at SMSP this year?
    • Appreciate the correction on the "ground", that will make a huge difference to looking at this. That makes complete sense about AF70/AF71 which is what I had come down to being the issue, one of these. I'll have another look in the ignition wiring when I get a chance next week. I'll also make up a jumper wire for running that AF73 test.  ECU is fine, relay itself is fine, pump harness is fine and the pump itself is fine. I am going to upgrade the Walbro 255 anyway with a DW300 I have since I need to replace the fuel sender and I'm going to upgrade the FPR with my chasebays kit ready for new plenum/injectors/dbw, but I'll get this working first. That's why this is so frustrating.
