snitch much?

i would rather snitch on the person who did it then have my car impounded cause i was cool and did not tell - i think it is much cooler to keep my car.

i wonder what you would really do in that situation... come on guys it is about helping the cops get the right people and off our back, not to defend the idiots that have created this for us.

you've been to prison before eh?

i can tell by your lingo (and your funny walk)

hahahaha... not yet

i just find it a bit rich/hypocritical that he sees no problem 'snitching' on him to the cops for an act he has no doubt done sometime before in his life & being the person directly responsible for that person having his/her car confiscated. if the situation where reversed and he was the one getting his car taken as a result of a fellow 'car enthusiast' having a whine & bitch to the cops i imagine he would feel pretty dogged and angry...

that being said i would be well cut if i was forced to take the wrap for someones elses stupid actions , just dont thinks feeding their information to the police is the right way to go about it???

Despite the fact that the awesome power of my car pwns all, :D I have NEVER acted like a tool on any cruise, let alone one I attended through this website. Ergo, you can take your comments about being "hypocritical" and jam them where the sun dont shine.

Anyway, if the "person" was acting like a tool and dropping skids at a meet point, bringing unwanted attention from all the wrong people (as happened in this case) and puts me, and anyone else there doing the right thing, at the risk of being hassled and maybe even coping a sticker from a pissed off cop, even under bullshit pretenses, then damn straight I would feel no issue with being that guy. I believe that as modified car enthusiasts and club members we have a responsibility to distance ourselves from the whole "hoon" tag and leave that moniker to the idiots doing skids in their mums crapped out falcodore, and bogans with more cubes than brains.

As nature intended.

Sure but if a cop asked you 'who was that idiot doing burnouts outside the airport' or driving like an idiot in some other scenario, it's a good opportunity to show the cops that Skyline owners are responsible drivers and citizens, and not reckless hoons. There is no moral defense to not telling what you know...why the fcuk should some irresponsible dick wad benefit from a mafia like omerta (code of silence) just 'cos he (or she) drives the same car as you? He (or she) is ruining it for everyone else potentially = selfish to$$ers. You don't owe them Jack. 'Loyalty' is misguided here.

Agreed - every man for himself, and if somebody is going to f**k it up for the rest, "the rest" should cut that dead weight out of the picture, feed him to the cops, it gives us a more responsible image, and one less dickhead off the street. People who rely on the silence of others are spineless.

Just hold a few cruises during the daytime specifically aimed at driving 15-20 less than the speed limit (i.e normal driving) and go for hours and hours?

20kays less than the limit is a finable offence on main roads isnt it? nismo will probly snitch on you...

Well done we have a hero, you know one of those guys that say they wont snitch then does, at least i am honest and say i will point the finger at the tool doing the wrong thing and i say it upfront like many other guys here that have kahoonas to stand up for what is right ;)

Yes it is illegal on main roads but a officer has never handed out a fine for it i bet...

Ive only read the first post but being an old man ive had (more than) a bit of experience with cops and there games .

This is just like the little man syndrome where the little guys says " one day , one day im gonna get all youze"

Cops can only do what is legal . What he said would happen is not legal . Its just a man getting pissed off that he didnt get his perpetrator or quota or ice cream etc .

Cops are just people , sometimes they get pissed off and sometimes they make shit up just like everyone else . I would say just that sort of thing if i was in his position , luckily im not so i get to have my ice cream and smear it into my own pants for personal pleasure too .

same old story one bad cop ruins the image of the police for everyone. Unfortunately the bad seem to be far outweighing the good and the balance is only slipping further into the negative. I have had very little interaction with the wa pol in my time in au but sadly my experiences have been 100% negative.

I have a theory though, any decent cop worthy of his job would most likely be moved on from traffic duties reasonably quickly yes?

obviously this would leave a pool of next to useless no hopers to hand out yellows and run their mouth.

Sadly as most of us are fortunate enough to avoid serious crimes on a daily basis have very little exposure to the quality cops who actually do their bit to keep our communities safe and secure, but as modified car enthusiasts we do have regular exposure to the losers on a power trip who give the rest a bad name.

My only advice would be document everything if your pulled over request ID, badge numbers etc, and if possible record via phone cam etc. If all goes well then no damage done and you can go on your way, but if an officer is just harrassing, running their mouth etc you have a record.

I would also suggest always dealing with officers in a civil and well mannered way no matter what their attitude as it can only help. giving attitude, however tempting, will never ever work in your favour haha.

anyways my 2c

    • Can't you put the pistons to TDC and then do the valve seals? Or will the drop down too far to pull them back up?
    • One thing I can tell you is, do it properly the first time. If you encounter unexpected problems just let the car sit for a week or two if you have to get some other parts or figure stuff out.  I'd have said go and use as many OEM parts as possible but since you want to change the turbo later on a custom kit is probably the better choice. Since I have no experience with RB25 just compare parts diagrams and images before buying a line kit and it should be easy to see if it has everything you need. Amayama has very good parts diagrams and part number lists, that is what I used a bunch to figure out what I might need. And don't forget to plan ahead and possibly renew other stuff that's easy to get to while you're in there doing the turbo lines. Happy wrenching
    • Update 4:   Hi all, good news. Engine is running and all the gaskets and seals seem to be working as intended. No leaks so far, even the JB Weld seems to hold. I flushed out the old coolant a few times and put in fresh coolant, not Nissan stuff, I decided to try the Ravenol Protect FL22, they claim it works for a wide variety of JDM cars and the opinions on it by some people were pretty good. And it has the nice poison green color! And man am I glad I bought a coolant system tester earlier this year, vacuum filling works wonders on this engine. I can definitely recommend this to anyone still doing it the old school way. All you need is compressed air supply. Will have to do a small test drive as soon as I can, I removed the gauge cluster again as the tacho needle was still bouncing around a bit but it was much better than before already.  I also found some cracks on all 4 tires inner and outer sidewalls. Apparently these tires should 't be parked on for extended periods or be kept under 0 degrees during storage, which I did not know. Clearly the previous owner didn't look into those details either, he probably bought them just cause they are cool semi-slicks. I'm just wondering how tf I am supposed to reach 30-80 degree tire temperatures on the public road consistenly, these tires were never going to work for my use case. I'll probably order Continental SportContact7 ones as these are the best allround summer tire available right now and I don't think I'll need anything crazier for now. Do let me know if you have experience with various tires and which ones you recommend.
    • You have no idea how many goddamn boxes I received these past three months haha Most have been put to use by now though, luckily
    • Not going to pretend I didn't do a bit of junky work this time around, but mostly due to the fact that some things I am not willing to spend days fixing right now, like wiring. I try to do most things properly the first time around.
