Nightcrawler
As has been spoken of many times before, I think it is time to organise a proper day out at Mallala. My suggestion is to go out Saturday November 15th. This is a public 'practice day' and there is 1 x 15 minute session for each vehicle class from 10am - 5pm. So you'd get to go out roughly 7 times for 10 or so laps. (And 15 minutes at a time is the most you'd want to be out there in one stretch). Cost is $70 each car (I believe nothing for spectators) and we can just rock up. I have chosen this date because it is unlikely to be rainy, and unlikely to be too hot. I have emailed Christine Kemp and she said no probs - we just have to have a full licence (no P or L plates), helmet and long sleeves. Pay the cash, sign the indemnity and we're off. No minimum numbers required. Perhaps we could organise a bbq (hint hint Steve & Timmay) and make a decent day of it. It could of course include an after cruise and whatever anyone suggests. I know we have access to some G-Techs for measurement purposes too and we could have a little in-house competition. What do you all think? 32godzilla
Bring it on Andrew!! I've been hanging out for this day, I spoke to the "other" guys about this and they were keen as too. My only concern was cooking my engine but apparently I've got nothing to worry about (to an extent). BBQ is an awesome idea, maybe we could use everyones brakepads after a few laps!! Nightcrawler
Yeah, if you keep it to 15 minutes on, 45 minutes off, then you give both your engine and brakepads/fluid a chance to cool down and recover. 9krpm
Nightcrawler, I've always want to do this. It would be great fun getting everyone to come out. I better hurry with my car mods. It's might be a little bit rush but, my car may not be complete yet. I betta hurry up...nothing like a little extra peers pressures Bring it on, bring it on Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/28055-mallala/#findComment-584348 Share on other sites

Nightcrawler
maybe we'll have to push it back a couple of weeks. The last 3 practice days for the year are: Saturday 29th November Saturday 6th December Saturday 13th December but the longer we leave it, the greater chance of hot weather. If it's much over 30 degrees there is no way I am gonna race my car .... David had his R33 out there last year when it was about 25 degrees and it was boiling over the coolant (out of the overflow bottle) every time he stopped unless he warmed it down for 10+ minutes. But I'm open to suggestions ..... [edit - damn I can't change the poll] Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/28055-mallala/#findComment-584365 Share on other sites

32godzilla
Matt, where do you get the tyres from?? Or is it top secret stuff?? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/28055-mallala/#findComment-586093 Share on other sites
Clint32
New the 540s in 16'' is $230, if you find the right people who race saloon cars and the like they will give away their old race tyres for next to nothing but like the ones MattR has they only have very minimal tread and are no longer as sticky as new ones, i scored a pair for nothing but when they have 30% tread and have not been used for a while they go off a bit. MattR
I allways use tyre rejuvinater on the tyres when I get them, you just paint it on and it brings them back to thier original compound, gd stuff and it lasts for ages.
