I am trying to find a drift wing for my R33 S2 GTS-T (as in the little lip that makes the boot flush with the rear quarter panels not a fast and furious T-wing) that has an in built led rear light (like the stock S2 r33 spoiler). Mainly because legally you need an eye level brake light and I don't want to have to retrofit one to the parcel shelf.

I have emailed/asked a lot of suppliers and none have had them or even known about them but I have seen one before, I asked the gentleman where he got it from but he said it came with the car.

So if anyone knows where they are available from please post up.

If not, I imagine it wouldn't be too hard/expensive for a bodyshop/fibreglass place to modify one to include a brake light? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i'm the same mate, tossing up whether or not to get this wing, but i don't want to go through the hassle of fitting another brake light.

i don't think it'd be too hard to retro fit, in fact the r33 GTR wing has the LED strip across the bottom bit.. maybe show one to your panel beater

You only need the eye level light if you have a wing. the DUCK lip/wing is a lip and doesn't require a higher light.

It's not called a drift wing. It got the name by people incorrectly interpreting D-Wing as Drift, when it means Duck.

Also, those are the laws for NSW, but they are a pretty standard law. Go for a drive and have a look for cars that have a higher up brake light. I bet they all have wings or ar station wagons/4wds.

ok so this is wrong. ADR 60/00 says that all passenger cars manufactured after July 1 1989 are to be fitted with a central high-mounted stop lamp.

OP, i advise you keep looking for someone who can put in a LED strip for you :D

i use my skyline garnish as a 3rd brake light, never had any issues in the 6 or so years and numerous defects.

Find a nice flush mounting LED light - like the R34 ones in teh boot, then get the wing modified. or DIY

If you dont want to try it, find me a nice flush one and i'll try it haha have one of these awaiting install on one of my 33's

Okay so I can't source my own DUCK wing with one built in, looks like I will try and get one made up at the crash repair, hopefully it wont be too expensive$$$ (thanks for the offer of helping make one Craved but logistically it would be easier to give it a shot myself!).

In SA I am pretty sure I need a light in it as my mates Silvia got defected and he didn't have a rear spoiler (original ones have a spoiler with a brake light) so they made him install one on the parcel shelf, same scenario as a Skyline I would imagine.

I will have to try and source an LED brake light possibly a 34 boot style, I have seen the post in this section about LED brake lights for a 34 so I imagine I will use something like that off Ebay, from Import Monster, etc.

    • Why are you so adamant on going M12? Why not follow Brad (GTSBoy) suggestion. You're talking moving from a 1/8" size, to a 1/2" effectively. 4 times bigger. Why skip the commonly available sizes in between? The bigger you go, the more likely you are to strip the threads out at a later date, as guaranteed, someone will put a huge spanner on the M12 and really tighten it up, and you're only in thin wall, so not a lot of threads to engage!
    • Hi. Yeah thanks. Car is already at tuners and it staying there to resolve "many" issues they do not like. So it is in a good hands. Getting a good tune on that Nistune ECU too so the car would be good. Just needs a little tune up and love.
    • Probably gonna remove manifold and turbo. I’m not sure if I can get M12 x 1.5 air tight. Could use high temp Loctite 246 or something similar, but I don’t know. Maybe it’s just best to remove everything again and weld an 1/8NPT on there instead.
    • Yeah, saw the ratios, not impressed. Would like the punch I have in the first gears now. With those ratios it won't be the same.  Also want the h pattern gearing, or at least a quiet gear set that don't need to come apart for service each year. Looks like the only "reasonable" way Is a 8hp70 transmission, but where is the fun in that🤷‍♂️
