my tuner seems to think that my spark is been blown out with excessive boost.... above 16 psi it missfires etc but at the 16 psi it has about 300rwhp or so... im just wondering if it could be something in the tuning of the microtech.... i have irridum plugs gapped to .6 mm..... im just thinking the coil packs may not be putting out enuf spark/strong enuf spark... what sorta power at the wheels are the std coils and igniter setup good for on a r32 rb20det??? cheers guys...

I have a feeling i know which tuner your talking about too. Cause they told me the same thing. I used to have the same problem, the tuner changed the plugs to a v-Spark plug or something along those lines, but the plugs didnt last all that long. I have just changed my plugs to irridiums and its started again, and im only running 10psi :)

Mine only seems to do it after abit of a drive on the freeway tho. If i punch it while on the street its sweet but drive bout a half hour on the freeway, then decide to give it a squirt it'll constantly misfire. I'm actually in the process of sorting this problem out with the mech that put the new plugs in. When he finds a solution i'll let ya know ;)

Hmm, doesnt sound right. I have seen stock ecu, stock ignighters with irridium plugs (I 'think' they were gapped at 0.8) running 18lbs with no probs to 8200 redline.

I have run up to 1.5 bar on R33 with stock ignighters on iridium gapped at 0.8 no probs.

Have you taken care of fuel?

16psi isnt really huge boost. It may be worth dropping Clint32 a pm, I am 99% sure he runs more than 16psi on his R32.

    • I've replaced the front brakes of my NA to 324 brembos and 350z calipers: i'm going for 225/40-18 up front and 245/35-18 in the back. I have Rays 7.5*19 ET35(225/35) in the front with 5mm spacers otherwise the calipers "lock up/ won't rotate". When i use the calculator i come up with 8*18 ET30 for 225/40...... but not sure i get problems with the calipers. Anyone riding around with 18 inch. that can confirm "that it'll fit"? In the back it's 7.5*9 ET30 (245/30) with the 5mm spacers, but there is no problem with the standard small brakes, so i want to take 8.5*18 ET25 (245/35).
    • Lol.. but then.. always come back to a JDM..
    • Glad to hear. If possible, get your tuner to check air's to make sure everything is still where it should be.
    • The problem with FB/Insta/Reddit etc comments relating to cars is simple. You get to ask a question once, and get one round of replies. For things that can actually be answered in a few lines of text, once, it's fine. After 6 hours, your original question is lost to the void. There are no follow ups, additional questions, anything. No project car is ever such a simple list of questions to ask. You need discussion.
    • Welcome.  Here's what I have noticed about forum vs FB..... FB; seems to be wallet racing, and the same few questions asked over and over. There *may* be some groups that are closer knit, but most have changed for the worse. SAU; unfortunately, no longer in its glory days. But....genuine people with similar interests. Not all about how much you spent and saying you dont have enough power. Sooooooo much knowledge available. Have personally seen people post up about literally topics I made myself, asking on FB like no one has done it before. Most has been done, and most of that is here.   If you ever feel like just general chatting theres the wasteland.  Other interests are also generally covered in other areas of the forum. Hope you enjoy hanging around. We would love to have you.   P.s. nice 32 😀
