Know quite a few of you are using them and rave about them.

Need two new rears and I'm thinking of giving them a try. However I'm not sure which type to get. The car is a daily driver so I'm not convinced I want the RS-R simply because I like having some grip in the wet and I tend to chew through soft compound tyres very very quickly (T1Rs in less than 5k km o.O). I've read mixed reports on the SS so was considering the EVO. Thoughts? Also where best to get them from in the ACT?

Ok, to recommend the best tyre for you I need to know:

1. What size?

2. Is your car a daily driver?

3. What is your car's approx power at the wheels?

4. How many track days, hillclimbs, motorkhanas do you compete it (or plan to)?

5. How many kms would you travel in a year?

If you can answer these questions I can help out with the tyres

Either 595's or the 595EVO's (which are now available) in 235/45R17 would be perfect...

I would suggest going for the 595EVO if you want slightly better grip than the 595's (the EVO's will be more comparable in performance to the Toyo T1R's), however - if you dont want to spend the extra cash the 595's will be great for your use and you should expect around 30 - 35,000kms if you drive hard... Keep checking your rotations and pressures regularly for maximum tyre life :P

yeah but Michael with a car a gutless as yours, with someone as bad as you driving it, who needs good tyres? you go slow enough to drive soap on ice and stay in control!

hahaha get back to work (like I can talk)

    • It's almost certainly a reluctor generating an "AC" waveform. No, ECUs don't generally read those - they're usually set up for PWM square wave 0-5v stuff.
    • Working through possible solutions of converting my mechanical speedo.    Anyone know what type of speedo sensor the factory r34 gtr getrag has ? what the output is ? I assume its not a VSS and more a voltage like earlier speedo sensors ? Can an ECU read it ?

    • I can get more photos of it here soon and I plan to make a thread detailing the process. I received the car this way and it sorely needs refinishing. That is probably the most appealing photo of it. Up close it is fading, cracked, and needs to be re-glued. Depending on their condition I'm on the fence between refinishing or making a new set.  Another angle hiding the pimples and razor pumps
    • According to this thread the RS4V with build plate RC40 comes with the R200 diff @ 4.083 ratio as well (mine has said RC40 denotation). We may need to check if the axle stubs are the same pattern as well. The auto subframes have longer axles. However I think yours being a later Series 2 as well, we should have the same bolt pattern for the diff stubs. Unless your upgraded rear also has upgraded axles. Either way, I would not be opposed to pulling the covers to check so I can inspect that  fancy rear core  Also I don't have HICAS. I don't believe that should change things but I hope the people here with heaps more experience than me can correct me if I'm wrong   Let me know if you want to attempt to make this work and I can get some pictures of mine from under the car.
