I've found heaps of cheap CMOS sensor stuff that'll probably only work reasonably on bright sunny days like this and this.

It needs to have the following features:

- an input to begin recording when a logic high or low (12v or gnd) is applied to an input

- do endless recording (when storage fills up, it deletes oldest data and keeps going)

- record audio

- High Definition, minimum of 720 vertical lines

- CCD pickup

- Good low light sensitivity without IR illumination
