i think mines due for a service,

got it at 47,000Ks and its around 52,000Ks

How often do you service your v35s and where ?

I just did it at unique auto sport after 9000 something km. it is $250 because everything else is still in good condition except the engine oil stuff.

where is it mmm.... use google=)

just did my service at 33000KM's

200 bux at Pro concept in West Ryde

oil and oil filter every 5000km's

Last time I quote for service in Pro Concept and the guy listen the phone just said around 400 to 500 for oil changes coolant changes and brake fluid changes and i just hang up.

does it matter where i get it serviced though ?

their gonna do same thing to it anyway right?

like K-Mart and others would be $130

Pro-Concept is $210

Personally I'd say no, it shouldn't matter.

My advice -

Things like oil changes/filters etc are pretty easy to do at home.

If you want to do things like a full fluids change - brakes, diff gearbox etc

Find a mechanic you know is decent, buy your own fluids, take them in with the car, and watch them change it.

There is nothing special about the V35, that means you should be paying extra. Anyone who tells you different is trying to rip you off. Yes you will pay extra for better oils etc, but if both places are using the same stuff the price should be similar.

By buying your own fluids, you may be able to get them cheaper if you shop around, and you avoid the place adding there own little charge on top.

If the workshop can get parts cheaper, then make sure you actually see them putting those parts in. ie, you don't want to be paying for Motul 300v engine oil, and they just put castrol magnatec in. :-)

at the end of the day, its just another car.

To take the oil out, you undo the sump plug - just like a commodore/falcon

To put the oil in, you unscrew the oil cap and fill - just like a commodore/falcon

seems everyone says every 5k, but the manual says every 15k.. any particular reason why?

My S14 I used to do every 5k, but thats coz it was turbocharged.. think the manual for that said every 7.5k..

Just keep an eye on it. You can tell if your oil is being used/burnt and change the service interval to what suits.

As a guide though, i have an Aus 04 Maxima, which has the VQ35 engine (but de-tuned) and the service book recommends every 5000km for oil changes.

    • Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.
