hey guys,

new to the stagea world but not to nissan's. ive been looking for a few weeks now and was wondering i can find 98-99 models for around $14,000 - $16,000 but is there any point in look at importing from overseas? ive found a site http://www.j-specimports.com.au/featured were it tells you what you'll pay to get one landed and complied.

cheers,

If you can find one locally even in another state for not much more than importing go for it.

I have used j-spec a few times to import. No fault of theirs but it always takes longer than you think and costs more.

Do you really want to wait for a car, realistically by the time it is on road, 3 months and not test drive it before you buy?

want a series 1 or 2? which state are you in?

i am selling a series 1 for much less than that.(only gets driven to work by the mrs these days, so i want to get a cheap hatch, and sell my 32 for a bike when i cbf)

I imported my last stag through J-spec, I would highly recommend them. Very little trouble at all. I dealt with Ben and he was 100% honest about the car i was getting and gave me an excellant report on it before i purchased.

After buying from a Dealer this time round, I would of much preferred to go through J-spec again, unfortunately i couldn't deal with the waiting time. Like Darrin said...3 months is what you really should expect..But it could easily go longer then that.

The time factor doesn't really bother me, probably better. car probably wouldn't fit in garage i got now so when my house is finished at end of year ill have more room to park it.

I think nowadays there are so many options, if you dont mind waiting then import one, more likely to get exactly what you want that way.

If you dont want to wait then private or a yard is the go.

The market is slow atm locally for stag's so could pick up a good bargain if you look, like mine :)

I have used J-spec for 4 cars so far, and have no problem recommending them.

Wait times have been substantial between purchase and ready to register, but are not necessarily the compliance workshop's fault: I have dealt with ship breakdowns, Japanese holidays, end of financial year, New Zealand's change of import policy (my spots on the boat were taken by cars going to NZ, so they'd arrive before the new laws came into play), etc... If you don't mind the wait, it's well worth importing your own IMHO.

Chaser: 4 months

Legnum 3.5months

V35s: 7.5 months

ive been searching the forum about the factory double din unit that some come with. is there any point in get one with one in it? i know ill have to replace it to get it working in oz. but if i get one without it am i able to fit a double din unit?

i think you'll find that the stock double din xanavi screen is also the climate control, so not that easy to remove. mine didn't have the xanavi screen, just a single din climate control with double din cd player under that. the stagea has 3 din pockets available. now i have the single din climate control unit and a double din 7" touchscreen dvd,cd,etc.

    • Haha, i kow right? Could have bought so many cars for the same amount of money (or less) but driving Unicorn gives you at least +1mln to style 😅. Like wise man said "life's to short to drink cheap wine and drive boring cars" 😉
    • Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny
    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again
    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
