Hi all,

First off - mods please move to correct section if need be.

Guys, I have a potential purchaser for my car who is in the Eastern States. To cut a long story short, they said they are in the navy and do not have access to internet banking, however their bank account is linked to their PayPal account.

Now they have advised me they wish to purchase my car for $24,000 which I am happy with, and that they want to pay via PayPal. I have a PayPal account with my bank account details linked to it.

Basically, I want to know if anyone here has ever used to PayPal to receive a large sum of money and if so, has everything gone smoothly?

I emailed back the potential purchaser and advised that if I do go ahead, I will not let the vehicle leave my driveway until the full amount of the funds have been cleared from PayPal and transferred directly into my bank account where I can access those funds.

Any help?

Cheers,

Jace.

Sorry to burst your bubble. Its a scam.

Me and my dad who both have cars on carsales for sale got identical texts from them.

Paypal will show up some money and you need to put a deposit down to get it. Of course when you put your deposit down, the money disappears.

It's a scam, stay well away.

They pay the money through paypal, take the car then lodge a claim with paypal immediately saying it isn't as described etc and you get caught in a huge wrangle and paypal takes the buyers side and well you lose out.

Happened to a customer who was selling his car recently on carsales. Search google and you will find a lot of info on it and people getting stung.

Be careful

Haha i just checked on google and found this website, http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-repli...fm/1340763.html, which i received an email enquiry about my car almost EXACTLY the same as this!

Just for the fun of it, I emailed him back saying "If your agent is coming to pick up the car for transport, is he able to pay me cash for the car on your behalf? If so, then I am willing to drop the price by a further $500.00.".

I just want to see if i get an email back and what it says.

    • Yea - I mean I've seen my fuel pump which is decades old and uh, while I'm not saying this with real knowledge... but I sure get the ick at using anything in the fuel system that produced the state of that pump. Many years ago I went through multiple pumps (and strainers) before I dropped the tank to clean it out with extreme violence. I'm talking the car would do maybe 50km before coming to a halt, which resulted in me cleaning out the filter with some brake cleaner and going on my way. None of my stuff ever looked like what came out of your fuel tank. I don't think I'd be happy with it unless every single component was replaced (or at least checked/cleaned/confirmed to be clean here).
    • I'm not going to recommend an EBC pad. I don't like them. Just about anything else would suit me better. I've been using Intima pads for a while now.
    • Agreed, and in particular the earth strap that should go from the subframe to the chassis but it often broken or left off. There is a section in the R32 workshop manual you can follow for troubleshooting if you don't see anything suspicious, and depending where you are (there is no location on your user profile) you should be able to get your hands on a second hand replacement unit still if needed
    • Yeah they mention as a R34 for 2.5 Turbo...but then again thos "small" were also for R34 by that different site. But i look into it and that 310mm EBC is for R34 GTT. And by those you linked the specs are the same 🙂    EDIT: I found these on one site here: DBA 4000 series T3 DBA42304S They are 310mm...and it says are for R34GTT...are there good? EDIT2: ok they have pads too.  What "color" should i get for street use? I dont want/need some noisy ones...(and if they are not that dusty that is good too)
    • Yeah, shame. Maybe  driver's carpet is available 🙏. I am waiting for both amayama and nangun to confirm.
