Hey guys,

Fuel pump died today in my r33 GTS, put petrol in as i was VERY low and wouldn't start once i got back in from paying.

Cannot hear the fuel pump at all and the car sounds like it wants to start but just cant

Had it towed away.

How hard is it to install a new pump myself? is this an easy DIY job??

i did a search for a tutorial but found nothing :)

also roughly how much is a new pump going to cost, had a look on ebay and there were some generic ones for about $80

how much for a genuine/trusted aftermarket brand

Thanks for your help, Im lost without my daily. :bunny:

Look at this guide here, pretty much the same to replace the pump with an OEM/GTR/Nismo/whatever, except you don't cut the cradle etc, but you may as well upgrade to a 040 while you are doing it.

Have you checked the fuel pump fuse? As the Fuel Pump fuse may have blown, just a guess.

all done, job took a few hours, the bit that took the longest was getting the black plastic cover off with the hammer n screw driver

thanks for your help :)

Good Job

Yeah, took me ages too to get that off, I had to take it off a few times, as explained in that thread (I Think). Mine is almost munted, lol, was fun working on it with a FULL tank of petrol - very cold, and was getting headaches from the petrol fumes.

    • thanks for the advice on the box... i was thinking the 6 speed was better for cruising on the highway but on closer inspection and comparison the Rb 5 speed box was not too different...  So the choice is going to be the RB25 box... if I can save up and find one at the right price
    • Thanks Matt, yes that's what i am aiming for. Just going to apply the right voltage and grounds to the dash connector. Hence my search for these pins... any chance you know if these pins are in the same spot as the ones on the S15 Dash connector? as mentioned above on page 8?
    • Yes, unfortunately that's the one. Signal was noisy to begin with; after driving once and looking back at the logs I saw pressure constantly swinging between 0-200psi, or staying at 0 randomly for a few seconds. There's a lot of good sensors that share the same look and feel, so don't presume they're all bad. I bought mine for 20$ off Amazon and I should have read the reviews prior, as it's clear they're junk.  I purchased a lowdollerr motorsports sensor.
