hey guys, my names riyad and im from across the ditch looking for some help !

been on here for quite a while and have learned quite a fair bit and that everyone on heres pretty friendly.

now to what i need help on, im dropping an RB20det out of a R32 gtst into my cefiro what i basically need to know what to look out for ? whats gonna be a pain for me to do etc ?

also if someone could tell me whether the RB20de starter motor will work with the det motor ?

At present ive only started to disassemble the wiring, fuel lines and all the other crap from the engine.

Sorry if ive asked dum questions as in still only 17 and studying automotive engineering atm so i dont know everything, but i have to learn the hard way thats why im doing it myself (and with the help of a few mates of course )

any help will be appreciated guys and i definitely wil have more questions to come your way.

cheers riyad.

Yes but the sensors still differ between early and mid model A31, and R32 GTST.

i believe late model Cefiro's have same wiring harness plugs and AFM as R32.

My Ceffy was turned turbo, they used the 20DE loom and everything on it, even the air flow meter, and just swaped in the bare motor...when I got an R32 AFM it didn't fit the Cefiro plug.

sweet so my starter motor will work ? even tho mines a factory manual cefiro ?

Yeah ive been told that the harness is quite similar thanks alot dude.

One more thing im after a nine bolt flywheel, ive been told the the RB30e one will work but is slightly bigger ? if true will a 9.5"/240mm clutch work with this and clear my gearbox ? what other options do i have as ive been told the RB20DE clutches are not worth it in the long run.

Cheers

Try d1nz.com forums they have a full rite up on doing the conversion it helped me out good and proper when i did my conversion,

I think i used a rb30 flywheel and its been sweet as using excedy clutch, dont bother using de clutch as ive just heard clutches r crap n dont last

^^ as above the D1NZ guide is perfect for someone doing it first time, are you getting an engine loom with the engine ? if so it will plug straight into the body loom of the car, you only need to change a few wires under the fuse box.

hey guys, thanks for all the help its helped me get through the conversion pretty sweet. just a few more questions now. you guys that are running thick alloy rads, do you have any issues with the engine fan, as i trial fitted mine today and had about 3-4mm clearance between the 2 items. So i now im thinking i might need to run a electric fan to over come this problem... any thoughts ? also im going to be running a R32 front mount intercooler kit, i have a fair idea about where the holes need to be made for the piping but i would just like to reassure myself and if someone has pics it would be great.

any help would be appreciated, thanks alot guys.

are you thinking of R32 GTR's that run a ballast resistor ? because RB20 powered GTST's do not have it. nor do cefiro spec'd RB20's

yea I see the GTR one is different but Im just trying to figure out what the silver doofa is on a R32 L/H strut tower, Im thinking some sort of fuel control

    • Hi...so a "development" here aswell The swap is "done" and car went "test drive" BUT it seems the clutch(maybe gearbox?) is a little bit sad? I bought this clutch kit https://justjap.com/products/xtreme-heavy-duty-organic-clutch-flywheel-kit-nissan-skyline-r31-r32-r33-push-type "Problem" is that the first gear is hard to put into and it seems that the clutch is not disengaged. It was not the problem with the old clutch...(or like sometime the first gear would not get as easy specialy when the fluid was cold) So? Can it be like...bad "install" or is the clutch wrong ((it should not have been) i done research to get the right one) Or is this "normal" with new clutch and needs to be break in?
    • @Duncan I can try  and thanks i did not thought about VIN and part numbers for 33/34. @GTSBoy yeah it looks like iam gonna do that
    • Forgot to include this but this is the mid section of my steering rack that looks like it has a thread/can be turned with that notch mentioned in the post:
    • Hey everyone, Wanted to pick some brains about this issue I'm having with rebuilding my 33 rack (PN is 49001-19U05). All of the tutorials/videos I've seen online are either R34 or S Chassis racks which seem to be pretty straightforward to disassemble but this process doesnt carry over to my rack. Few of the key differences that I've noted The pinion shaft on the other racks bolt on with 3 torx bolts: Whereas my rack bolts on with 2 allen head bolts: These changes are pretty inconsequential but the main difference is how you pull the actual rack out of the housing. The other skyline/s chassis racks can be taken out by tapping the rack out of the body with a socket and it just slides right out. I'm unable to do that with my rack because there's a hard stop at the end that doesn't let the seal/shaft be tapped out. Can also see a difference in the other end of the rack where mine has a notch that looks like you're able to use a big wrench to unthread 2 halves of the rack whereas the other racks are just kinda set in with a punch. My rack: Other racks: TLDR; Wanted to know if anyone has rebuilt this specific model of steering rack for the R33 and if there were any steps to getting it done easier or if I should just give this to a professional to get done. Sorry if this post is a bit messy, first one I've done.
    • I would just put EBC back on the "I would not use their stuff" pile and move on.
