Hey all, Im having trouble with my airflow meter on my rb20det r32. Im pretty sure its the plug that if faulty, does anyone know where to get another one? can you even cut and reconnect these wires? when i drive the car, it randomly runns really rough and idles around 1,500, you cant drive it because its really jumpy, and then the revs bounce up and down after putting it in nuetural. Playing with the wires of the airflow it fixes itself...drive another 500m up the road and it does it again. Iv cleaned it 5 times within 2 days with MAF airflow Cleaner. Spraying the plug with WD40, RP7, CRC, it last a lot bigger drive then if i dont spray it.

what series is it?

if its a 3 prong one...

i got a plug off a N15 or N14 uplsar from the TPS???? i think thats what it was off, it was brown. if you find an N16 pulsar they have a plug that goes to the coilpack that is exactly the same as the 3 prong plug on a skyline afm.

it wasnt a perfect fit, but you just modify your afm plug bit ever so slightly and bam, new plug fits.

im pretty sure r32 and r33 afm are the same (i did it to my r33)

you then solder/clamp the wires to match, make sure u look up the wiring, or pm me and i can help you out.

however if it is a 4 prong one i havnt looked for a plug to suit

Thanks, I will try this tonight. :action-smiley-069:

thanks for the replies

if the soldering dosent work, its probably the plug, especially if it looks ratty, when my afm was playing up, i replaced the actual plug going to it, i didnt touch inside it.

i think i wll try that first. everytime i play with the plug it stops, so im pretty sure its the pllug. where did you get your plug from? and it fixed your ploblem? well my airflow meter hadnt been used in ages because i had a greddy emanage ulitmate in it which had a MAFless tone, (no airflow meter)

what stops? the car?!

what stops? the car?!

lol. sorry, when im driving along and it starts to run really rough, i pull over and stop. its idleing at about 1500 and then starts to bounce up and down between 1000, 1500. pop the bonnet while the car is still running like crap and play with the plug of the airflow meter and it runs fine again...for a little while.

sounds like the afm, could be touchy ground wire? do both techniques, no harm can come of it

    • Why are you so adamant on going M12? Why not follow Brad (GTSBoy) suggestion. You're talking moving from a 1/8" size, to a 1/2" effectively. 4 times bigger. Why skip the commonly available sizes in between? The bigger you go, the more likely you are to strip the threads out at a later date, as guaranteed, someone will put a huge spanner on the M12 and really tighten it up, and you're only in thin wall, so not a lot of threads to engage!
    • Hi. Yeah thanks. Car is already at tuners and it staying there to resolve "many" issues they do not like. So it is in a good hands. Getting a good tune on that Nistune ECU too so the car would be good. Just needs a little tune up and love.
    • Probably gonna remove manifold and turbo. I’m not sure if I can get M12 x 1.5 air tight. Could use high temp Loctite 246 or something similar, but I don’t know. Maybe it’s just best to remove everything again and weld an 1/8NPT on there instead.
    • Yeah, saw the ratios, not impressed. Would like the punch I have in the first gears now. With those ratios it won't be the same.  Also want the h pattern gearing, or at least a quiet gear set that don't need to come apart for service each year. Looks like the only "reasonable" way Is a 8hp70 transmission, but where is the fun in that🤷‍♂️
