HI ALL

new to this site

iv got a r33 gts-t

wen you are starting to put your foot on accelerator

just as it starts to spool up

sum times the power cuts out

stil runs etc

but just seems like ya took ya foot off the pedal

but you didnt

doesnt do it for long

then it just kicks in an goes!!

kinda seems like corners are stuffing around with the problem

like wen ya cum out of a corner an you start putting ya foot down

thats wen it does it mostly

and its auto

an if you put ya foot down quickly then take it off just as the boost starts cuming on

it goes to stall bad an runs really ruff, like the idol is hunting

been thinking that iv prob got more then one problem haha

an maybe tps an oxy sensor are sad

any help would be gr8

thanks

Keep in mind that it IS only a guess. You need to properly test them to find out whether they are faulty

thanks mate... i really thought it had sumthen to do with the pump at the start!!

coz it did seem like is was worse wen low on fuel!!!!

but thought if it was it wouldnt be to good at full noise!!

cheers

No, fuel demand is greatest at peak torque which, in your case, is around 3,000 rpm most likely.

dam that was fast.. you musta been waiting haha

thanks..

peak torque at 3grand?? is you for real mate??

i'd say its got nothen under 4500rpm an doesnt start pulling to 5500rpm an at 7500rpm its nice he he :D

it seems to be electrical, well i thought any way..

its only wen you start to accelerator from backing off or braking

plz help..

sum body must of heard of this b4

im thinking dodgy wire or plug mayb lol

Hey I always check my emails in the morning and at lunch

You need to test the different systems. You can't just expect that someone will have your answer. There is about 10 different things that will cause that issue. Do a search on checking fuel flow and try that first. If it's not something basic like that, then start checking the other electrical things. Don't over complicate the problem. Keep it simple

yer thanks mate.. very true.. i allways over complicate things in steed of keeping it simple..

im starting to think its got sumthing to do with wireing to maybe fuel pump

did it bad last night going over heaps of bumps round a bend an i was kinda rolling... hmmm

an i gave it a fair hard time other wise an it loved it!!

but still going to stall at idol

would a after market blow off valve maybe do that??

umm how can ya turn the boost up with a stock ecu??

ive got a remaped ecu with no boost cut

but i dont like useing it coz i think its not a auto ecu and doesnt change gears very good

wouldnt mind winding up the boost with stock ecu

do you need a fuel defender or sumthen ????

cheers

Split Vacuum lines somewhere, Blown head gasket, rag stuck in pipework somewhere-start where Elite said to start checking-he knows his RB's better than just about all everywhere

thanks man.. its got new vac hoses.. and it hasnt got a blown head gasket!! engine is mint!! only put it in there couple months ago.. lol no rags stuck any where.. i dont think it would go/run very well with a rag stuck sum where!!

it only does it when goin round a bend thats bumpy !!

  • 1 month later...

i would start with the spark plugs and coil packs, (1) look for water / moisture in the coil packs (2) check coil pack condition and the connectors too.

if thats clear would go ahead put the stock bov back on and check all vaccum hoses by fidling and tightening

if problem persists would start checking the fuel pump, filter, and idle control valve, and also throttle postion sensor.

hopefully helps

HI, all of the above is good, like i have said..

checkd the fuel pump an thats fine as well..

I think all it is an has been this hole time, the wires going to the afm

it sumtimes stalls wen you move them..

does any body have i wire diagram so i can see where in the ecu the afm wires go ??

any help would be gr8

    • Get something that can spray a bit, something like I'd use is a pressure pack for weed sprayer. I use one with degreaser. Spray it on (make sure you're fully covered up, you don't want that shit on you, especially face/eyes). Alternatively, a paint brush will help here as you can brush and work at the stuff quite aggressively.   Be aware, citric acid can eat metal away and will cause it to rust more later. So make sure you neutralise it when done, and give the fresh metal some protection. That hanger, I'd honestly bin and get something like the Frenchy's drop in replacement. The tank, again, I'd look for something else to replace it with. Remember, as metal turns to rust, it means there's less metal there now. So some patches of your fuel tank are likely to be quite thin.   Personally, Id focus on the front end of things, IE, how did the injectors get clogged if they're meant to be after a fuel filter. Then, once the front is sorted, I'd rig something up, even like a small surge tank, and make sure the engine is now running and all behaving. Then I'd replace the fuel tank and fuel hanger and pump. Also, I'd already be preparing to ditch your fuel filter...
    • That's looking great! Are you planning to do things like all hidden wiring with it, or you're planning to have it look more like we'd expect an RB in an engine bay to look like?
    • Haha thanks everyone, I'll take everyone's suggestions into consideration. If I do eventually choose a car ill post it here update on the mods I do.
    • I found the ingredients at larger amounts from a Coffee Shop. 1kg Citric Acid for €8.50 500g Baking Soda for €2.50 I tried it out tonight distilled water (I got from my ACs) and dish soap. It does get bubbly with dish soap. In just two hours the hanger has improved significantly and rubbing against any remaining rust seems to flake it off. I'm going to leave it a little bit longer and see how it goes. I have read that someone even used this solution in an ultrasonic cleaner to clean a seized water pump which brought it back to life.
    • If you like more modern stuff than the R series, you should check out a V37 400R, they are pretty mod friendly
