need some new tyres. really want maximum grip in the dry but also reasonably safe grip in the wet. i was think toyo r1rs, 235/45/17s? (rim size 17x9.5+19)

what's the average price of this size? cant really find any sites that give on the spot tyre pricing.

any other tyres that are recommended? maybe federal RSRs. aiming for less then $250/tyre.

For the new crop of S compound tires (ad08, re11, ku36 and dz-03), the ku36 seems to have the best dry grip/mid corner grip however steering response/initial turn in isn't up to par but bang for buck, the ku36's definitely win and they are the first S compound tire rack have tested to exceed 1.0G lateral grip on a skidpan.

I was also pricing up a set of 235/45/17 in ku36 and they come to around $190 a corner fitted/balanced, dirt cheap! Federal 595rs-r's from a bob jane that tends to look after me were $270. RT615s in 245/45/17 were $250 though imho the ku36's are better with much more dry grip though the rt615s were quite good in the wet. (Prices fitted/balanced)

No idea on prices for r1r sorry, but have read they are quite good.

option1garage have some cheap s compounds (rsrs and ku36) while tire rack will have the other stuff like re11 and ad08 etc. I've never used tire rack but will use them for my next set. People have reported 4 day delivery times after payment received and the prices are fantastic compared to Aussie shops.

I'd say go for the R1R's they arent cheap i paid $300 each for mine, they're the exact same measurement as yours.

i'm running Nismo LMGT2's 17x9.5 +16 and the Toyo's fit perfectly, there is no stretch at all, the 235 toyo is more like a 255 in some other brands.

i've run them for just over a year on the street, havent tracked them yet, but will be doing so in about 2 weeks.

on the street they're great when you get a bit of heat into them, through the hills after a couple of hard braking the tyres grip awesome.

in the wet they're really good too.

IMO for a really really good street tyre the R1R's are up there, if i needed more grip i'd probably have to go semi slick.

i'm running 350rwkw and the tyres grip pretty well, the tyres only spin if i clutch kick or launch.

+1 for R1R's

    • Legend. I ended up finding the facebook account of the owner of the first car i sent but sadly he deactivated the account. I think you’re right in saying it’s some sort of well done custom job. Really appreciate your help anyways.
    • Totally equivalent. Stock often goes from the comp cover because that's where the actuator is also installed and the factory needs 2" of hose to make the connection - and it comes as a pre-assembled unit. They totally have a boost reference from somewhere between the turbo and the throttle(s). Oh, jeez. Just do it in M12 then. We don't actually care that much. I would expect any such AN converter fitting to rely on an o-ring or some other seal onto a flat surface under the flange of the hex**, because bolt threads are no intended to provide a pressure seal. unlike..... pipe threads. **which also requires a suitably flat and smooth surface on the turbo's boss to provide the seal.
    • I also used NP   That’s were it’s seems to be the best place to fit it? All schematic shows also that it’s should be referenced from the turbo housing. But idk, I do see high hp cars without any connection or anything to their turbos, so I really don’t know how they connect their things
    • I do have loctite 243 and 246 and a few more models. I could drill it now in place and make new threads for m12 and order an4 - m12 coupling and fit that to the turbo. Run a braided hose to the EBC which I could get a an4 to 1/8npt
    • So M12 and sealant should be fine?    NPT ” because that’s what I had and what I could get atm.
