Yes I know there are better tyres out there, but for the price I don't think I can go past the top-end Falkens. I was all set to buy ST115's, but then I spotted this thread and it's made me contemplate the FK451's again.

I had previously ruled the 451's out based on others saying that the ST115's were generally better, but if the 451's are that good compared to bigger brand tyres according to that review they might suit me better. Mainly because they are a silica compound, which grips better in the wet than rubber. If the difference in dry grip isn't much, I think I would rather get the 451's and have better grip in the wet. I have silica tyres on my bike and it roxors my joxors. (although I realise there's more to grip than just the compound)

Anyone give me some pointers one way or the other? I am also contemplating the RT215's, but I think they are out of my budget (around $300 more for the set), even moreso considering they will wear faster. But any useful input is appreciated :)

Edit: I had a look at Falken's site and it seems the sizes for the RT215's are pretty limited and I don't think suitable for my wheels. Also, the FK451's seem to have a higher speed rating than the ST115's. That could mean better build quality?

note, just my personal experience..

I have RT215 235/40/17 front and 255/40/17 at rear for daily use.

Tempe tyre, 235/40/17 for 250 ea, 255/40/17 for 300 ea, also available in 225 as well. price was paid 3 month ago?

Personal experence excellent with RT215, that's just the way I drive.. I have replaced my rear tyres with RT215 for about 5000km now..been to 4 track days (2 e/c, 2 wakefield), they are just doing better and better..and still got 80%+ of thread..mind you, car have some nice power at rear wheels, but hard to make them spin.

handling in the wet is awsome, maybe due to the large / deep water channel and block.

Consider the price paid, and the performance, I don't mind to use them again..

how much are these falkens each jimx?

got a quote yesterday on hancook ventus K102, 235*45*17    170 per tyre

theres a thread on em somewhere

I got a quote on 255/40/17 for my GTR on ST115 $290 and the FK451 $300, but won't be going with them. I have driven a friends car and didn't find them that impressive, also know of someone who only got 9000km off a set of Fk451's ona GTR. I got a quote of $320 for the Toyo Proxes T1-S http://www.toyo.com.au/PCRPDFs/PXT1-S.pdf

I'm also looking at pirelli P6000, bridgstone S03, Yoko AVS V102 (waiting on prices) - I figure it's worth spending a few extra bucks to go a better tyre. I'll let you know the price of the above tyres. I currently have 509's on my EA ford POS and potenza GIII on my wifes car.

    • I've heard the Tomei USA head gaskets are decent if you want to o-ring the heads but otherwise not recommended.
    • The 296mm rotors are the R33 turbo brakes. The 310mm rotors are the R34 turbo brakes. The calipers are nearly the same, but not. They're the same caliper but the R34 caliper has longer legs so that it sits out far enough to go over the rotor. The pads are the same for both. When you say, "I bough tsome EBC"....did you just mean pads? Or rotors? 310mm rotors fit under 17" wheels. There may be some wheels without enough clearance though. I can't fit my fingers between the barrel of my wheel and the "corners" of my R34 calipers, but there is plenty of room behind the spokes. This is on Enkei RPF1. You can fit 324mm rotors inside a 17" wheel, but I'd be willing to bet that it would be close to impossible with the Nissan/Sumitomo caliper (using an adapter, of course), because the Sumitomo caliper is fatter than the Brembo caliper that is supposed to go on the 324mm rotors.
    • Hi. Can someone tell me what brakes(and mainly WHERE) can i buy brakes on R34 GTT? I bought some EBC which SHOULD go on my car(i have GT but it has GTT brakes) but it does not fit, Brakes are "too" small(296mm) Are 310mm be good or? I have 17 inch wheel so no "big boys" but for me driving i just need one that fits and i can get here in EU/Czech.
    • Since winter isn't that harsh anymore in Poland, i will definetely drive it 365 days a year 😉. But if the snow hits i will try it for sure and let U know. Only swap i am planning to do is of course R34 GTR front 😍.
    • Hey. Very valuable information about pitwork, I will pay attention when buying any consumable parts 🙏 As for the carpets - I got a handful of information from nengun, from which it appears that indeed the carpets for the driver's side are OEM. They are not able to show me any pictures due to the long chain of different sales entities but after I place the order, as soon as the goods arrive at the nengun warehouse from which they will send the shipment to me they can send me photos and if my purchase differs from OEM I can immediately return it / cancel the purchase. I think I will give it a try 😉. Of course i'll let you know what's what as soon as i get them P.s. I know the topic is not relevant to the thread, but both nengun and amayama have these SICK 😍 trunk room lamps available. Do you know anyone who ordered them? I need to have one in my car
