Hey guys im stuck for ideas.

Got a RB20 s13 converted from a CA18. Was runnng fine for 3 Years and even longer for the previous owner. Any ways just over a yr ago i crashed it and bent the Rail on pasanger side. Any ways after a few dramas with different Pannal beaters the car has finially been fixed. Took it home got the intercooler ect back in it . Cranked it over by hand changed the Oil and Filter. Tried to crank it over.. Realised i had no Fuel pump running. found out teturn earth was not functioning so earthed it temp to the battrey.. Try again no Spark.

Now i was told that the return earth for the fuel pump realay would prbably go back to the ECU could this be the problem for the whole lot theres some kind of problem with the ecu and return earth not work?

Any ideas would be great.. Also does someone in perth have a spare RB20 ECU i can test to see if it is the ecu.?

if it IS the ecu.. take it to perth digital - (see my thread a few threads down)

that said... we can't really diagnose the problem over the internet when you

A) haven't described what the car's doing very well and

B) have such a heavilly modified car..

my advice to you is - take a step back..

go get yourself a coffee or go out and have lunch.. alone.. refresh your mind and come back with charged batteries

look at the big picture, what's the car doing.. what are it's characteristics... write a list of things that it COULD be.. and work your way back from there.. think of "what's changed" since it last ran.. what's the car been through since it was last operational.

don't go pulling parts out and ripping things off the car just yet..

actually use your BRAIN.. before using your hands / a sledge hammer

you said you got it home and put the intercooler in it... did you do ALL the vaccum seals up? ALL OF THEM??? ALL OF THE RING CLAMPS?? etc etc..

Ok So ive sat at it and tested somemore stuff.. CAS seems to be fine its been tested by a Auto Leccy that can test that kind of thing with this cool little gizmo lol..

Got no Injector Pulse, Got no Spark. Power is there at the injectors and at the Coil Packs.

It Turns over fine.. But injector does not Let fuel in Nore do the sparkplugs spark .

Kicks over Fine, Just not actually startiing the car. does not even give a cough and splutter because its not firing or fuel been let in.

Nothing has changed since its last ran.. Lights where pulled out, Radiator off and Intercooler and Piping and battrey and stereo taken out. Thats it.

New radiator was installed all connections for the sensor where re connected. Lights are back in not that that makes a difference to the starting of the car. the Intercooler has been put back on.

Everything is seal tightly... But that wouldent matter as the car is not giving fuel or sparkiing and that wouldent stop that.

Problem is im in bunbury and work all week most places do not open during the weekend. If someone had a ECU i could test would be good.. ill be up in perth this arvo to get a mate from the airport.

Can you hear the fuel pump priming?

If so, are you getting enough fuel through the hose between the filter and the rail?

I recently started a halfcut motor that hadn't run for years, among many challenges was that when I reseated my fuel pump, the filter bag was pressed down on the tank in the wrong spot and was restricting flow. Fuel pump would prime but not enough fuel would actually make it to the rail or injectors

Is the ECU itself powering up and which mode is it is ? Lights on the dash and the ECU itself will light up when ECU turns on, as for mode, adjust that screw with a screwdriver, make sure it's back at 1, not that it should make a difference.

Plenty of Fuel pressure at the rail.... Even so this still isnt gonna help when the car isnt igniting or injecting.

Fuel Pump would not start by itself and its on life support by being earthed from the Relay to the battery, as there was somwthing found to be wrong with the return earth. Its Continually running now when the ignition is on.Is it true that return earth for the Fuel Pump goes back to the ecu in some way?

The ECU is a single light Model Only - Red Light. Lumpy ROM Modified. Where is the screw ment to sit.. its all in chineese.? i tried doing diagnostics and could not work them out.

The ECU light turns on.. ive had a bit of a run around with the multimeter. Wich wires should i be concentrating on?

Someone has given me another RB20 ECU and was hoping it should still be ok. he was unsure wherther or not it was for redtop RB or Silvertop RB. Its deffently for Manual Transmition but.. Will it harm anything if its a red top ECU?

Wont plug in , totaly different from red top to silver top ..

    • Hi guys . Can someone help me  I bought an Android screen for my Nissan fuga but it won't turn on
    • My guesstimate, with no real numbers to back it up, is it won't effect it greatly at all.its not a huge change in position, and I can't see the air flow changing from in turbulence that much based on distance, and what's in front of it. Johnny and Brad may have some more numbers to share from experience though.
    • Which solenoid? Why was it changed? Again, why was this done? ...well, these wear..but ultimately, why was it changed? Did you reset the idle voltage level after fitment? I'm just a tad confused ~ the flash code doesn't allude to these items being faulty, so in my mind the only reason to change these things, would be some drive-ability issue....and if that's the case, what was the problem? Those questions aside, check if the dropping resistor is OK ...should be 11~14 ohms (TCU doesn't throw a flash code for this) ~ also, these TCU designs have full time power (to keep fault code RAM alive), and I think that'll throw a logic code (as opposed to the 10 hardware codes), if that power is missing (or the ram has gone bad in the TCU, which you can check..but that's another story here perhaps).
    • Question for people who "know stuff" I am looking at doing the new intake like the one in the picture (the pictured is designed for the OEM TB and intake plenum), this design has the filter behind the front bar, but, the filter sits where the OEM duct heads into the front bar, and the standard aperture when the OEM ducting is removed allows the filter to pulled back out of the front bar into the engine bay for servicing, a simple blanking plate is used to seal the aperture behind the filter This will require a 45° silicone hose from the TB, like the alloy pipe that is currently there, to another 45° silicone hose to get a straight run to the aperture in the front bar Question: how will it effect the tune if I move the MAF about 100-150mm forward, the red is around where my MAF is currently, and the green would be where it would end up Like this This is the hole the filter goes through  Ends up like this LOL..Cheers
    • Despite the level up question, actually I do know what that is....it is a pressure sender wire.  So check out around the oil filter for an oil pressure sender, or maybe fuel pressure near the filter or on the engine. Possibly but less likely coolant pressure sensor because they tend to be combined temp/pressure senders if you have one. Could also be brake pressure (in a brake line somewhere pre ABS) but maybe I'm the only one that has that on a skyline.
