i was doing skids last night and noticed a burning clutch smell and a funny noise but then noticed that the smell and noise would only come when im in neutral and dont have my foot on the clutch. of ive got my clutch in while in neutral the car is fine no smell no noise. when im driving it doesnt slip or anything it is just when in neutral it makes are wiered sound and a burning clutch smell..

the question im asking is .\

will this stuff my clutch even if i just keep my clutch in while in neutral??

and what is causing this problem??

What kind of clutch? My clutch did this a while back(smell that is) and after about 2-3 days the smell went away. (Uprated pressure plate is all i am running) If you are running a organic plate they tend to not like being treated like that. Skids eh.... Do some burnouts, etc and this is what happens.

im actually not sure what it is aye just know that its not stock lol i dont know that much about cars at this point lol

To answer your question about holding the clutch in... It is always a good idea not to hold the clutch in for longer than needed. (Generally speaking in the short term, damage probably will not be done.)
