Hi :action-smiley-069: I'm Timothy but call me Tim or Timi.

I own an R33 with a RB25DET in a GTS shell :ninja: and have owned it personally for almost 3 months

It was a great find for me since its registered as n/a n im still a kid on L plates people just assume its not turbo because of the 4 stub hubs/wheels so its all good.

The Skyline is still a work in progress but has had a little done to it like: exedy button clutch, forged JUN pistons, Z32 afm, APEX-i power intake pod filter, larger radiator, Blitz LM fmic, Blitz dual solenoid boost controller, Nistune piggyback chip, decat exhaust, adjustable coilovers (not 100% sure on brand, previous owner said KONI but i think there only for GTR?), screamer pipe, GReddy RS dump valve (to be fitted; need adaptor), cold air intake, APEX-i sway bars and strut bars, removed HICAS, Nismo lsd.

Heaps of cosmetics too but not really intro-worthy :D

I'd like to do heaps more to it like ecu remapping, BEE*R rev limiter, 3.5inch exhaust with twin cannons, SARD 1000cc injectors, twin bosch 044 fuel pumps, garrett t04z bb tu rbo mounted on 6 stem turbo pipe (exhaust manifold), GReddy intake manfold, GReddy top feed fuel rail, Tomei poncams etc.:turned: Not in hurry though, just want it to be completed before my P's (18yo)

Not hard to notice my car round Victoria because its has 17" Advanti Medusas on her (ew..should be on a Camry  but i wana spend money on performance stuff first) and Nismo "Graphics" on the doors

But like I said: its still a work in progress

:thanks: TY for reading n i hope to learn more on sau

Tim.

BTW! how do you get those litte pics of your car under your comments/posts? eg: VSPECT has little grey R33 GTR like his under his posts  and GTS-T_Sedan has little gold EVO 7..there mad as!!! :worship:

Welcome Tim!

You certainly have more than a few bit's and piece's done to your car.

May i say, please don't forget at some point to put bigger brakes on it... this may mean a 5 stud conversion however.

Welcome again,

Shannon

I'd like to do heaps more to it like ecu remapping, BEE*R rev limiter, 3.5inch exhaust with twin cannons, SARD 1000cc injectors, twin bosch 044 fuel pumps, garrett t04z bb tu rbo mounted on 6 stem turbo pipe (exhaust manifold), GReddy intake manfold, GReddy top feed fuel rail, Tomei poncams etc.:turned: Not in hurry though, just want it to be completed before my P's (18yo)

Welcome... It's great to have grand plans...

However perhaps don't go out and build a 440rwkw / $35,000+ build right away, especially not with a N/A shell at least anyway.

I kid you not when I say it will kill you :)

Also to note, 3 points as soon as the Police pop the bonnet, something to be mindful of given it's turbo (and yes, the Police most certainly can tell just by looking at it).

Big thanks for the warm welcome so far

I didn't want my intro to be an massive drain, just to keep it user friendly I just wrote the power wise upgrades I'd like to do :D

Bigger brakes are a must and so is a cage and other reinforcements since its going to be seeing laps and 1/4 miles (But not till I have heaps more driving expierience ) Also seats (incl. harnesses) are a required too. Already has strut/stabilizer/sway bars. Going to also do basic weight reductions and replace things with carbon fibre too.

Although I'm on my L's its not used and will never be used as a daily or in wet weather, its purely a weekender because during the week I got my mum's vx commo :teehee: lol petrol isnt cheap so commo is on gas. Once im on P's my dad will nurture the Skyline and I'll drive his Merc as well as Ninja 250 :ninja:

BTW power wise, aiming for figures around 280-300rwkw. Anything over is bonus but keeping it under 320rwkw. Shes runnin 14psi atm but want to replace turbo first (Shattering ceremic turbo blades sound really frightening  )

The build is going to last over a period of 18-24 months so there is plenty of time for learning as well as progression.

Exteriorly the car looks pretty basic apart from graphics lol, but as R31Nismoid said, its obvious is a turbo under the bonnet + massive fmic literally gives it away but side on eg: at traffic lights, all you see are 4 stud rims and blue "GT" emblem on side but it flutters/"Doses" like a mofo which also kinda gives it away

Thnx heaps,

Tim

    • Hi all,   long time listener, first time caller   i was wondering if anyone can help me identify a transistor on the climate control unit board that decided to fry itself   I've circled it in the attached photo   any help would be appreciated
    • I mean, I got two VASS engineers to refuse to cert my own coilovers stating those very laws. Appendix B makes it pretty clear what it considers 'Variable Suspension' to be. In my lived experience they can't certify something that isn't actually in the list as something that requires certification. In the VASS engineering checklist they have to complete (LS3/NCOP11) and sign on there is nothing there. All the references inside NCOP11 state that if it's variable by the driver that height needs to maintain 100mm while the car is in motion. It states the car is lowered lowering blocks and other types of things are acceptable. Dialling out a shock is about as 'user adjustable' as changing any other suspension component lol. I wanted to have it signed off to dissuade HWP and RWC testers to state the suspension is legal to avoid having this discussion with them. The real problem is that Police and RWC/Pink/Blue slip people will say it needs engineering, and the engineers will state it doesn't need engineering. It is hugely irritating when aforementioned people get all "i know the rules mate feck off" when they don't, and the actual engineers are pleasant as all hell and do know the rules. Cars failing RWC for things that aren't listed in the RWC requirements is another thing here entirely!
    • I don't. I mean, mine's not a GTR, but it is a 32 with a lot of GTR stuff on it. But regardless, I typically buy from local suppliers. Getting stuff from Japan is seldom worth the pain. Buying from RHDJapan usually ends up in the final total of your basket being about double what you thought it would be, after all the bullshit fees and such are added on.
    • The hydrocarbon component of E10 can be shittier, and is in fact, shittier, than that used in normal 91RON fuel. That's because the octane boost provided by the ethanol allows them to use stuff that doesn't make the grade without the help. The 1c/L saving typically available on E10 is going to be massively overridden by the increased consumption caused by the ethanol and the crappier HC (ie the HCs will be less dense, meaning that there will definitely be less energy per unit volume than for more dense HCs). That is one of the reasons why P98 will return better fuel consumption than 91 does, even with the ignition timing completely fixed. There is more energy per unit volume because the HCs used in 98 are higher density than in the lawnmower fuel.
    • No, I'd suggest that that is the checklist for pneumatic/hydraulic adjustable systems. I would say, based on my years of reading and complying with Australian Standards and similar regulations, that the narrow interpretation of Clause 3.2 b would be the preferred/expected/intended one, by the author, and those using the standard. Wishful thinking need not apply.
