Hey guys, gonna join sauwa and just I bought the GTR in this thread,

http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/344568-r32-gtr-v-spec-ii/

I went through the regs in the sticky and not sure I can make heads from tails, what I want to know is if anyone thinks i'll have trouble getting the car over the pits, the exhaust isn't loud but my main concern is with the cams and coilovers, it looks stock in the engine (you can see from the pics) and has a high enough ride height. No EBC or ECU visible.

If I will have too much trouble with it I can take it to QLD and get it registered before bringing it over here. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I haven't had to take a car over the pits before.

i was in the same boat as you. i brought my GTR over from Sydney and took it over Warwick pits 2 weeks ago - i recommend taking it there!

mines got cams and also fully adjustable ohlins coil-overs, idle is fairly lumpy and the coil-overs are @ above legal height, this didn't concern them at all. mine's setup for 500hp+ but the engine bay looks fairly stock like yours which is a plus, just clean everything make sure theres no oil or coolant leaks, degrease the engine bay and under the car, make sure EVERYTHING works electrically.

also while your there get them to give u permits, i just did the bits you can see like exhaust, my massive FMIC and the adjustable fuel pressure reg, hide any boost controllers and boost gauges.

any questions just pm me :)

Take it over.

Pass = banana.gif

Fail = Get list of what needs to be "Fixed".

This.

Generally the pits are pretty good. Cops might sting you because most don't know what they are looking for, but pit inspectors are reasonable.

From the photos it looks immaculate both inside and out. Eveything looks neat and well done. Cops shouldn't give you a hard time, unless you really ask for it.

Yeh, I agree. Hadn't looked at the photos yet when I commented.

I've always found the inspectors at the pits to be reasonable guys.

Spending their days inspecting 100 year old stuffed Taragos and the like they are usually impressed to see a well presented and obviously loved vehicle.

They'll want you to pass unless their hands are tied (like it's draggin it's arse)

So don't worry, present it as it is and fix any items on the list if it fails.

PS Midland are good guys too

    • I've replaced the front brakes of my NA to 324 brembos and 350z calipers: i'm going for 225/40-18 up front and 245/35-18 in the back. I have Rays 7.5*19 ET35(225/35) in the front with 5mm spacers otherwise the calipers "lock up/ won't rotate". When i use the calculator i come up with 8*18 ET30 for 225/40...... but not sure i get problems with the calipers. Anyone riding around with 18 inch. that can confirm "that it'll fit"? In the back it's 7.5*9 ET30 (245/30) with the 5mm spacers, but there is no problem with the standard small brakes, so i want to take 8.5*18 ET25 (245/35).
    • Lol.. but then.. always come back to a JDM..
    • Glad to hear. If possible, get your tuner to check air's to make sure everything is still where it should be.
    • The problem with FB/Insta/Reddit etc comments relating to cars is simple. You get to ask a question once, and get one round of replies. For things that can actually be answered in a few lines of text, once, it's fine. After 6 hours, your original question is lost to the void. There are no follow ups, additional questions, anything. No project car is ever such a simple list of questions to ask. You need discussion.
    • Welcome.  Here's what I have noticed about forum vs FB..... FB; seems to be wallet racing, and the same few questions asked over and over. There *may* be some groups that are closer knit, but most have changed for the worse. SAU; unfortunately, no longer in its glory days. But....genuine people with similar interests. Not all about how much you spent and saying you dont have enough power. Sooooooo much knowledge available. Have personally seen people post up about literally topics I made myself, asking on FB like no one has done it before. Most has been done, and most of that is here.   If you ever feel like just general chatting theres the wasteland.  Other interests are also generally covered in other areas of the forum. Hope you enjoy hanging around. We would love to have you.   P.s. nice 32 😀
