Hi, my bf is planning to do an RB25DET silvia conversion. I was wondering if anyone here has any information or experience related to this conversion, or can add anything to his list so far that needs to be considered.

Cheers

SR20 Auto gearbox crossmember.

R33 Engine crossmember with R32 mounts.

Plenum will hit bonnet, chop support from under the bonnet or put spacers in.

FMIC and custom piping.

Aftermarket front and dump pipe.

3" exaust.

The sump will need massaging cause it sits just touching the sway bar.

Cant use the engine fan, need thermo fans prefably two of them.

You can keep the air conditioner.

Can use standard hydraulic lines and power steering lines

Use r32 radiator

Hoses are on the same side as rb25

Aftermarket ecu wolf v4 plus

Can get strut bar, but unsure what size will fit under the bonnet and clear the plenum

Tail shaft need custom to make it fit

R200 mechanical lsd

Throttle cable in SR is longer than rb25det, you can cut the SR cable or use the rb25 one

instead of chopping the shit out of the bonnet why not have the mounts lowered, which is what my car has had done.

every car i have seen has had to do away with aircon, and if you have a FMIC no chance either i reckon.

show me a strut bar that fits ill buy it!!! custom jobbie i reckon

-you need to use 33 mounts with the 33, sits lower and has 2 bolt pattern onto the xmember rather than 32 1 bolt

- you could 'massage' it, might cause problems with oil flow, better to space the sway bar from the body, about 10mm

- would also be good to enlarge/baffle sump while it's out

- might be wrong with the 25, but I think you 32 bottom (if using 32 radiator) and 33 top hose

- front pipe can use rb25 , fits into the s13

- can keep ecu, seen a lot of 25's eating it lately with wolfs but might be just me

that's all I can think of atm

  • 1 month later...

you are going to need a whole new computer, it would help to have a better gear box but if you use just a normal old clutch the clutch will go before the gear box how ever you will have to keep replacing the clutch buts thats better than the gear box. So i recomend you use a rb25 gear box(if she will fit which im not to sure about) a rb20det gear will fit and wil hold and is about 1800 dola cheaper. if i think of anything else ill give you a buz

    • Totally equivalent. Stock often goes from the comp cover because that's where the actuator is also installed and the factory needs 2" of hose to make the connection - and it comes as a pre-assembled unit. They totally have a boost reference from somewhere between the turbo and the throttle(s). Oh, jeez. Just do it in M12 then. We don't actually care that much. I would expect any such AN converter fitting to rely on an o-ring or some other seal onto a flat surface under the flange of the hex**, because bolt threads are no intended to provide a pressure seal. unlike..... pipe threads. **which also requires a suitably flat and smooth surface on the turbo's boss to provide the seal.
    • I also used NP   That’s were it’s seems to be the best place to fit it? All schematic shows also that it’s should be referenced from the turbo housing. But idk, I do see high hp cars without any connection or anything to their turbos, so I really don’t know how they connect their things
    • I do have loctite 243 and 246 and a few more models. I could drill it now in place and make new threads for m12 and order an4 - m12 coupling and fit that to the turbo. Run a braided hose to the EBC which I could get a an4 to 1/8npt
    • So M12 and sealant should be fine?    NPT ” because that’s what I had and what I could get atm.
    • Wouldn’t touch par if they gave it to me. You need to ask how much power you’re looking to make and then add about 50% to it because that’s what you’ll end up making  The factory box says no more at about 350kw or so, the upgraded synchro boxes won’t handle much over 500kw for long and at that point you’re looking at an auto or dog engagement manual,  once you’ve gone dog engagement you may as well go sequential, they cost a little bit more but it’s worth it  also while you’re at it you should upgrade the transfer case with 10 friction plates
